Where can one obtain the best exchange rate?

 I was most disappointed on Monday when I obtained some Euros from a cash machine at a Santandar branch using my Santandar debit card and only obtained a rate of 1.117. I believe the commercial rate that day was around 1.17. I always seemed to obtain a good rate with my Nationwide flex account. I wonder what other methods of exchanging money are being used to get the best rate. Incidentally, on that day, I bought something for the same amount and my credit card company gave me just over 1.14!! Kevin

 The best exchange rates in the UK can be found at cheque centres, the money shop and American Express shops.  Don't know about cash machines in Spain.  You need to exchange sterling only for currency exchange at cheque centres and the money shop
