NEW Murcia Airport

Reading La Verdad yesterday & the EC have said that they dont have a problem with the regional government guaranteeing the loan & the schedule of works proposed takes it right up to the end of 2011 so I would think that it will be early 2012 before it is open.

 Today I visited the site for the new Murcia Airport the site is very much a work in progress only basic structures in place the entrance gives the impression it is near complete i assure you it is not they are starting to level the ground for the runway the new roads that deliver you to the airport are well on there way If you want to visit go to the village Valladolises and then follow the road to Corvera the airport entrance is about half way between the two give  or take a few K's

The map ref is Latitude N 37 47 600 Longitude W 1 08 430 roughly  photos are available and i will post later (on my facebook now)

 Can you post the link to your Facebook album (if the rest of them are set to private), or I am sure you can post photobucket (or similar) code. I didn't think Justin they  limited thatfacility, but I may be wrong :)

You know this airport was originally due to become operational from 2006.......I can't believe how much it's slipped.

I heard last year the first flights were due to start in March 2010, now it seems it's dates quoted are well in advance again.

One things for sure, the project management here is not great ;-))

Also, La Opinion has published the fact that Ryanair has cancelled 7 routes from San Javier, blaming the regional government!
