how this area has grown in the last 6 years, i wonder what would it be like if we hadn`t had a credit crunch?

Interesting comment. Maybe if we hadn´t had a credit crunch some of the little Spanish shops and bars in the village would not have closed as the newcomers would have brought more business. As it is, it is very sad to see these little places going.
Even if the building starts again, I don´t think it will spoil the village itself as all the new stuff will be on the edges and thus keep the Spanish feel to our lovely little pueblo.

Hi Irene
Where we are, some businesses are closing however new ones are opening all the time. As an example, one of the bookshops closed down a while ago (the man who worked there is now working in another bookshop) however today we noticed that it is due to re-open as a shoe shop.
We are hoping that the large development where we were planning to live will continue, now that they have come out of administration, so long as the Madrid court accepts their proof of adequate water supplies (it is a long story!!). We are also hoping that people living there will spend lots of money in our local town, but without ruining its Spanish feel!
