How does Duquesa compare with Dubai ?

Put it this way, I cannot wait to be in Duquesa in three weeks time!!!
As Fred says, Dubai wants the whole world to be centred here!! I would prefer to have just that multitude more culture, history and sophistication that Spain, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter, has to offer!! Even if only for a short while during the year, at this moment in time!!
So give me that address where I can send my postcard...!!!!

As a former Dubai resident I really don't think they need Disney or anything else moving there! They are deterined to have the world's biggest everything but they don't have the infrastructure to support it at all. Last time we were there you could hardly move for traffic congestion and I understand it's worse now. I'm not sure I would relly want Disney in Duquesa to be honest. Wouldn't it spoil a pleasant place?

Personally, I think that if the Disney intention in Manilva (or purported intention!!) is to have a childrens summer/adventure camp or the likes (rather than a full blown Disney resort, which will certainly not happen), then it would be a good thing for the area. It wouldn't impose too much on the environment, but would offer great potential to people who have bought property there with the intention to rent out.

I don´t think Disney will now end up in CDS. I´m looking at this from a business point of view. Now the new International Airport in Murcia/Corvera/Los Martinez has begun, it is more likley to be there.
An estimated 15 million passengers from all over the world arriving in the area, it would certainly not take anything more than a Micky Mouse Accountant to work out the huge potential. Couple that with 9 brand new Jack Nicklaus 18 hole golf courses currently under construction and half of them playable by 2008 would suggest Murcia is most likley to be in real contention.
Several new motorways nearly finished all linking the airport to the cities of Murcia and Cartagena, and for the first time cruise liners arriving in Cartagena. I don´t want to sound too biased just because I live and work in the area but it does seem to be a bright future here in Murcia Province.

Ah but Gillespie - Disney have been building a theme park here since the 80's!
Now I know the Spanish are Manana, but the americans are even worse!
I doubt very much they will be building ANYWHERE!

OH YES wasnt that the Wookie monster....? I remember seeing that as a kid followed by Jaws and then until a few years ago being frightened to go into the sea after my dad scared me on the beach.

Oh ha ha!
After watching jaws at the tender age of about 9 (wouldnt be allowed now) we went to the beach. Tide was right out and dad sat on the beach. Mum held my bruvvers hand and I walked behind. After going for what seemed hours (about 100m), the water was still only up to my ankle.
Anyway, in the sand my foot touched something, a stone I think and I looked down.
At that precise moment my father shouted 'SHARK' at the top of his voice.
I screamed, turned and ran back crying my eyes out - it must be said alongside several grown ups as well!!!
I didnt go in the sea for years and even now cant stand it if I cant see below me, just in case a monster octopus or man eating killer turtle gets me!
(bit braver now but not by much I have to add!)
