Help needed in Mojacar Almeria
The Comments |
I have a sky box and 1.3mtr Sat dish, but when weather bad we lose the signal.
I saw an HD system in a shop that seemes to work well but was expensive.
Other people say an English HD freesat box will work just as well at a fraction of the price, + good quality cables.
Has anyone out there any good advice.
Thanks
Ric

Most HD receiver do seem to perform better than basic or SD recievers. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that HD channesl require more data from the satellite for the HD channels, and so they need a more sensitive / faster / better tuner.
However, even HD boxes can and will lose channels and reception during heavy cloud and rain. Going HD will not magically cure that problem, but they may slightly reduce the time the channels are lost. This message was last edited by satandpcguy on 01/10/2011.

Our apartment is just up the road from you at Puerto Rey. The satellite dish was installed by the local rip off merchants, but I believe the dish is biiger than 1.3m. I have an old Panasonic digibox (circa 1994) which works fine, although when the thunderstorms were around earlier this year, channels did disappear for days at a time.
