Excessive Gaol Sentences

Reading in the EWN about a priest who got 29 years in the slammer for organising sham weddings. They get time off for good behaviour (not escaping) in the UK. Do they really serve what's handed down in Spain? I see a few sentences, and fines, that cause a sharp intake of breath. 29 years for that?
