We used to have a flat there and it's very convenient for places. Not far from Torrevieja, San Miguel and within walking distance of Villamartin. A fair choice of restaurants and bars, good supermarkets and just a short trip to the new shopping mall in La Zenia. It is a bit seasonal and quiet but gets busy during the summer.
One word of caution. Most of the houses were built by Technologia Urbanistica which is now bankrupt. Many of the houses weren't completed and very few have occupation licenses as the town hall at Playa Flamenca is pretty rubbish and riven by infighting. Not a problem if mains water and electricity are supplied but there are still some relying on builders supply. TU also took out mortgages on land that had been paid for so, contrary to what the lying agents told us, no deeds were available. It took us years, and lots of money, to eventually get the deeds to the property so ensure the deeds are available. If not, run for the hills. Certain areas of El Galan epitomised the worst of the building boom. Poor building, incompetent solicitors, black money, lying and corrupt agents and criminal use of money by all of them. I'm sure the majority of problems have been solved (it was 12 years ago when we bought) but just be sure you have a decent solicitor to get it done properly.
So saying, you have a good bus service to the beaches, smack in the middle of 3 excellent golf courses and lovely walks through the orange and lemon groves and gorgeous during almond blossom season.

Oh thanks for your reply, yes heard about Technologia in the past.  I am actually here now looking at property to buy.  Lots of things to take into consideration before an actual purchase.
