Costa Blanca still tops property sales list for 2013
The Comments |
I read in the paper yesterday that the Costa Blanca is still the place of choice for foreign buyers of new build and second hand homes. It topped the list in 2012 and the figures for the first quarter will be released shortly but it is still the most popular destination. In the last quarter of 2012 3,692 properties were sold to foreign buyers in the Costa Blanca Alicante area. Double those sold in Malaga which is second on the list. This brought in 464 million euros almost 25% of the entire national market for foreign buyers. The arrival of the AVE to Alicante will be an additional boost for the Alicante area converting it into the coast of choice for Spanish buyers from central and northern Spain. New promotions are now being built in the Torrevieja region, for example grupo Mahersal are starting to build a complex of 183 properties aimed specifically at Belgian, Scandinavian and Russian buyers who are showing a high demand for properties in these areas. It appears that it is just the British who complain about Spain, maybe because they were the ones hurt the most, but the future for the region seems promising and will inevitably become even more multicultural than it already is. It seems things are starting to turn around for the the Costa Blanca and as prices will probably drop even further that turn around can only speed up.
