New tax rules
The Comments |
I saw on "Murcia Today", increases on taxes when buying properties. Also another major change was that the 99% discount on inheritance tax is being discontinued. This will affect many people. Try not to die in Spain!
I don't know if other states have also changed their rules.

Actually Inheritance tax in Spain has been a worry of ours for a while now (although we are trying not to die in the UK or Spain!) We really don't want to leave a burden for our kids to sort out and as we understand it they won't even be able to sell our property (they won't want it) unless the tax is paid. Something that we didn't factor into our thinking when we purchased.

I think that many do not realise the tax implications on moving to Spain;if they did they would definitely be put off, and I am speaking as one whose income tax is lower than Uk. WhatI hate is the feeling of intimidation from the Hacienda, the way we are a soft target, the many changes and the fact that tax accountants don't seem to understand their own system-you could pay hugely varying amounts depending on who you go to.It's a minefield, so complicated, and they seem intent on hounding the little fish, while the big fish swim away.

I must say that I agree with what you say, Camposol. I really hate it when you try to comply but you get conflicting advice from the professionals .If they don't know how are you supposed to?
I think that it's the same wherever you are, the authorities go after the easy targets but in the UK you usually understand the rules better!
