Murcia airport still a great place.. now selling duty free goods
The Comments |
Last time going through Murcia Airport ( April 2014 ) I noticed a new shop opened for the sale of duty free cigarettes and tobacco ..
Although we didnt go into the store can someone confirm that Duty Free is available for passengers travelling home to the UK ?

You can't buy "Duty Free" for taking back to UK from Spain. Only if you are an international traveller flying outside the EU area.
It will be the same as Alicante, duty free for international travellers and Spanish duty paid for within the EU.
You will also find they are more expensive than the normal tobacco shops are in Spain. Same with the booze and everything else they sell there.

I cannot understand why San Javier airport would want a duty free shop As far as I am aware it only handles EU flights and there are no international incoming or outgoing flights or customs The only "international" passengers would be taking a connecting flight via Madrid and they could use the duty free in Madrid

The words 'duty free' are a come on to get you inside the shop. There is no such thing as duty free within Europe.

The "duty free" shop at San Javier has been open for a while. First off it was good - they stocked my favourite brand of brandy at not much more than the supermarket price. But they seem to have hiked their prices recently and reduced the range to the point that it's just not really worth the hassle.
Presumably they reckon that as they've got a monopoly they can charge what they like, but no, now it's actually cheaper on the plane. But still a nice airport, although IMHO "great place" is a bit OTT.

Murcia airport is nothing more than a joke it is a military airport that was open temporary to the public to take the strain off Alicante airport why isn't the new Corvera airport open yet it is a purpose built state of the art facility and it is still close to the public .

Hummm you must have bought a place at Corvera then ?
If Murcia Airports "a Joke". Whats funny about getting from A to B without walking miles. No stairs, quick security check in , clean facilities, easy pick up and prop off of passengers and easy car hire.
The Joke is that they built Corvera when it wasnt needed windtaker.
