So yet another U turn! The government have now abandoned the 1988 Coastal Act that threatened hundreds of businesses and homes. The old rules allowed a 30 ‘license’ but  has new been extended to 75 years for houses and 50 years for businesses . Now owners can extend  and sell properties, but as usual – there will be a fee payable of 6% of the property value to the government.

This crazy law designed to  appease the tree-huggers would have had a huge  impact on tourism and the commercial fall-out that would send investors running for the hills has clearly been recognised by the lawmakers at last!
