The Guardian and El Pais reports today that action has been taken to deal with Spain's many corrupt officals.

The ruling PP political party are mired in so many differing corruption allegations it is difficult to keep track of it all. The extent and bare faced arrogance of some of the behaviour of these people is truly shocking. The Barcenas enquiry rumbles on and gets every closer to those currently in power in Spain.

Meanwhile Rajoy continues to claim Spain is not a corrupt society 'just a few bad apples'. Anyone who has lived in Spain and been in business knows that to be complete cobblers. Corruption has many forms from accepting undeclared cash payments to under the desk backhanders for favours. Corruption has become less overt in recent years but nobody believes it's gone away. Except the prime minister.smiley

There is an old Spanish story that if you want to know where the local Mayor lives just look for the biggest, grandest house in the village.

That´s what I cannot comprehend, the sheer arrogance of these thieves. I may have posted elsewhere that one individual when confronted with his corruption charges, promptly replied "the procedure is time tested", which, he thinks is the way to behave. How dare these crooks, with their dirty fingers in the pockets of people that can barely keep their heads above water!

Anybody know the latest re. Urdangarin and the Enfanta, or has that been conveniently shelved. I think they are living somewhere like Switzerland at the moment. Maybe the quick posting he got to Dubai (was it?), to give handball to the natives was a way to quiet it all down?

More importantly, when will compensation from fines due from corruption filter down to those who have been directly affected by such abuse?

Rajoy back tracked yesterday and made a grovelling apology for the extent of corruption in his party the PP. However he went on to say it was just a few greedy individuals who were involved. Believe that if you will but the damage has been done. The wolf is at the door.
