Non EU Residencia renewal

Are you saying that without all the rigmarole of an updated and verified? Marriage certificate the British Consulate in Alicante issued you and your wife with the necessary document for your non EU wife to renew her Residencia with the Spanish authorities.

 What I said my post I thought was quite clear.   

One of the documents we required was proof that we were still married.

That was provided by the British Consul (in Malaga) with a cert from him saying that I had sworn that we were still married.

Not quite clear about this. Are you actually saying that you proved that you are still married by a cert from the British Consulate which you obtained by only a sworn statement given by you and your wife to the British Consulate.

You were not required to provide evidence like a marriage cetificate newly verified by the issueing non European country to the British Consulate in order to get the cert from the British Consulate.

One of the documents,   we required,  was proof that we were still married.

That means,  one document, of all the documents which were required.

It was about 7 years ago, so I cannot remember all the documents which were required, and even if I could the requirements may well have changed during that time.

If you have not done so, I suggest you go to the 'Extranjería en las Delegaciones del Gobierno’  for the area where you live.  It is not the National Police Office where an EU Citizen registers on  EU Register, although they MAY have the info you require.

Just in passing:  When a friend was trying to renew his wife's residencia, I suggested that he went to a gestor who at one time specialised in such work.  Whet he enquired they told him they had stopped doing that type of work because the authorities changed the rules so often they could not keep up.
