There are many half abandoned half built golf resorts around the Murcia region. At least three in the area of Sierra Golf. Investing in any one of them must be seen as a gamble. You will be betting on the market recovering to such an extent that the developers finish what they started. Very often new developers or entrepreneurs move in and try to get in quickly and then get out taking with them their profits. They almost never invest in the infrastructure to improve the resort for the existing owners. Usually in Spain the initial developers and the one left at the end both lose money.
Property in Spain has shown some signs of modest recovery in 2015 but it’s nowhere near the level that might encourage investors to risk resuming major development that are basically out in the 'boom docks'.. So with unfinished resorts such as Sierra Golf the road might be very long indeed. That is not to say the place has no potential in the long term but that’s how you should see it. It will only take another modest economic recession for the developers to hit the road again.

Gpod luck if you do decide to buy, if it's a dream and an ambition to enjoy owning your own place in the sun then good for you, don't listen to all those doubters who only seem to think of when or if you are going to make money on your investment.
To us it was about enjoying our place and not the gaining of money, out of interest why pick Sierra golf instead of United Golf or Corvera, Roda or any Polaris complex ??
Thank you

In an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth. In finance, an investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or appreciate and be sold at a higher price.
Anything else is consumtion, enjoyment, pleasure. Never confuse the two. Personally I could not care less if people seek enjoyment through purchase of a Spanish property. Just don't call it an investment. You can advise on that but not notions of what's enjoyable. We all have differing opinions of that.

You may be thining about buying on Sierra Golf howvever the reality is that currently you will be pushedd to find smoething available because the they and us and the other agents have sold now almst everything available in the early release via the bank
Right now there are 4 Ryders, 1 bed villas @ now €65k
12 Eagles, 2 bed townhouses which have just increased in price to €70k
3 Greem 2 bed terraced villa just increased to €70k
In the last 2 months around 60 properties have sold and we have a waiting list for the Albatros and Open vllas t be released early next year
Why, great community, signicant investment in the course, now club house and infrastrure and you cannot touch them for value
We are still arranging inspection trips for this and the next release
Differences between Corvera and United, they are all houses and will have an open golf course and clubhouse plus currently no communuty fees

Inspectahomes,
Where would be the best place to buy ? Looking for a 2 bed apartment.
Not as an investment but as a current place to retire to and enjoy the Spanish lifestyle.
Is there a great variety in community fees ?
Personal preference is either Corvera, Roda or United Golf...... Not really keen on a Polaris site but maybe if nothing else really interests then maybe La Terrazzes de la torre ??
Thank you

First of all unless you really need the golf aspect and facilities of golf why buy on a course, buy close by perhaps Sucina, Los Alcazares and alos un and comimg places like Vista Bella alos known as Entre Naranjos closer to Alicante airport, opertaional course and good facilities for residential
Number 1 RODA because it is the only fully functional golf course, close to the beach, but the nost expensive on property prices and community fees. You could almost survive without a car
United, cheapest, good community, small properties from bank, no facilities no golf, no chance of golf
Corvera, good properties, good prices, very high potential fees, no golf no facilities
Terazes well priced bank propertues, high fees, golf course, limited facilities but good local village

I am glad for the Sierra Golf people that a builder is investing in the place, as for Sabadel they are a nightmare to deal with, I lost the will to live dealing with them. And many of the properties they are trying to sell can be bought cheaper else where, with less defects/problems.
