Hi, my partner and I want to move to Spain from the UK. Is it as simple as finding a job and property? I have read that landlords require 6 months rent in advance, does this apply to all property? Thanks...

I'm renting and I only paid one month in advance as security deposit. You shouldn't have to pay any more than that up front and there's plenty of rental options out there. Finding a job might be the most difficult and complicated part of moving to Spain as unemployment levels are very high. Finding anything other than temporary work is almost impossible right now.

As Fartharder points out the property rental is the easy part. Don't come unless you have 12 months living money or a job to go to. It's most unlikely that you will be able to get a job even in that period of time. Temporary work may be possible but that won't get you on the Spanish Health service, for example, as that is contribution based. Unlike the UK you will need private medical insurance and enough money to convince the authorities that you won't be a drain on their system. There is plenty on this topic on the forum.
