There's the crux! The sensible thing is to simply steer clear of buying property in a country you don't understand, with a culture that is far more different to ours (British) than many realise; just because you can readily get a full English and a pint of John Smith's, if that's what rocks your boat, does not mean that one should expect everything else to be "just like back home". It's not. Perhaps when the UK is out of the EU, people will stop assuming that we're all the same and governed by the same laws, and will go back to assuming that buying in Spain is about as safe as buying in, say, Burkina Faso!

P.S. not sure what this has got to do with the title of the thread anymore?
