So Thelma are you now saying you have been conned. There is no licence or plans and never were? But it's taken you 5 years to find out.

If you are saying that you paid for architects fees and a building licence but that you have now established no fees were paid to an architect and no licence was obtained,  that would seem to amount to a criminal offence.    That being so why not consider making a crime report to the Policia Nacional or Guardia Civil,  which ever cover the area where you live.    Or you could choose to go directly to the court of first instance for the area and make the alegation there 

We have now left this matter in the hands of our Spanish lawyers and hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

Back track on some of forum posts and see how other members got on when they got a Spanish Lawer 'On the case' while your at it also look at the way the courts work, instance or no instance, or rather don't, seems you have waited 5 years for nothing to happen, it's looking like maybe those 5 years might end up being the shortest amount of years.

Why not do what another posted suggested when they sold up, don't bother trying to get something that doesn't exist.
