I just saw a letter from DWP that as from April 2020 those pensioners who are getting the £70  pw or there abouts, will cease will cease to do so

But doesn't the letter state you may be able to apply for pension credit or universal credit?

OAPs dependants allowance

Has this subject got anything to do with Spain or anyone who is resident in Spain? Perhaps yes, but would end with no deal BREXIT anyway.

You can only get pension credit if you live in England, Scotland or Wales.

Sorry John our posts crossed.

Please dont bring up the B word Kav. We will end up with the fanatics taking over and discussing it through this thread for the next few weeks, until the thread gets locked.

Fair enough Jarvi, but some of the members have had to go to A&E with terminal withdrawal symptoms since the other thread got locked.

Who is responsible for the move will not assist those affected who are already living on a financial knife edge to stay in an EU country including Spain.

Some of them may have no alternative but to return to UK where, being potless,  they will be eligible to claim government assistance.   If that happens then the governmental move will backfire on UK who will have to pick up that bill.

I know a few who will be in that position

I suppose it is not wise for anyone migrating to rely on discretionary state benefits unless you are migrating into the UK that generally has a more generous benefits system than the country you are migrating from.
