Panic Buying

Should panic buying be made a criminal offence with a minimum 12 months custodial prison sentence?

Categorically no - first off to enforce any law you need a clear definition of the perceived offence. 

So how would you describe "panic buying" that is clear to the population, police, lawyers and the courts?

The Spanish have more silly laws that any other in the western world, we should not suggest they are increased!

sorry but 12 months for panic buying.

can you imagine the amount of overcrowding increasing the spread of the virus.

some people will always panic depending on their situations.

the next panic buy will be fuel 😃

If these selfish people stopped loading up cupboards, there would be enough for everyone.

what they don't realise is they are pushing prices up and some of the goods will perish anyway.that means spending extra money at a later date, when they haven't got it because they are temporary or even permanently out of work.

im sure the panic buying will calm down soon when they realise 

we are all in this together, we all need to help each other if and when and we will come out of this stronger.

health is more important than money 

Of course it was a joke question. We don't have enough cells to put all these selfish people into and, if we did, the "social distance" would be impossible to maintain.

We should simply shoot them instead. 

A good call MarieDav - but is that, all lined up against the wall, or must the legally required, 2 metre distancing, be followed?

Why would anyone panic buy fuel when there is nowhere to go and we are all confined to barracks?

Because certain people still have to travel, ie logistics, doctors nurses etc and the mentality of people is not only to fill their stomachs but also fuel tanks, if and when they need to go somewhere ie emergency, they have the fuel to do so.

How many times can you fill a fuel tank on a car you are not using? At the moment the petrol stations could not give fuel away.

Come on guys it's just a general statement 😃 looks like you have all fallen for it again.

i will reiterate, the human being for some reason panic buy due to any type of scaremongering, why on earth are the shelves empty of toilet rolls, you can only blow your nose so many times, but then again, if they are buying so much food, they need it for the toilet duties 😂.

if quite a lot of people said suntan lotion cured them of the virus, guess what, it would fly off the shelves.

I would say the main reason for panic buying is not the fear of not getting any more food, but the fact that many people do not want to leave their house for at least two weeks....at least here in Spain it was very much the case, now it has all died down. So it is not so much question of panic buying but buying as much as you can so you don't have to go back to the supermarket for some time! It lasts for the first week until everyone has stocked up then everything goes back to normal...
