Death of Owner - UK Based
The Comments |
My wife (as legal owner) has passed away. We have a Spanish Will and our children are named as beneficiaries.
We used CIE Solicitors in Murica, but cannot get in contact with her or the firm.
What should we do ?
Can we go to a new solicitors?
many thanks

You can go to a new solicitor, of course, but they would need to contact the old ones to transfer files, histories and so on.
A lot of firms are still closed here. Our solicitors are working by phone (home numbers) and by emails with no actual face to face meetings as yet.
You are in Murcia which has passed to Phase 2 so may be opening again this week, we are still in Phase 1 so hence no office opening.
If these are the ones CIE Ademur then their contact page has a generic email address and personal email addresses for some of the partners.

In spain all Wills are registeted centrally.
The ogininal is held in the records of the notary before whom it was signed, not a by a lawyer.
Thus I see no reason why you need to use a particular gestor / solicitar, or maybe even one at all. Of course most people use a gestor or other professional as they do not feel capable of doing everything themselves.
