Living in my house reminds me of how I used to live in the first house I bought many years ago.
I'm non resident so I'm only there for a few weeks at a time, but it feels like home.
Years ago I shopped in markets, now I do the same in Spain. I visit friends and go out for meals, same as I do here. I cook more in Spain as I love to try all the different types of fish.
When I'm here for longer periods then I'd join clubs or maybe volunteer for a couple of days a week.
My neighbours are 70/80 and they do so much it makes me tired just listening to all they do.
I think it's a good place to live so what ever you're into you should find it there.
Whereabouts are you going to be?

Real Life??
When I came here, I was supposed to be retired! I live about 10 minutes by car from Torrevieja. My time is full, for example....I writ two quizzes each week and deliver one, I bake, I do piates, I go Irish Road Bowling..............I participate in another quiz on a Wednesday, I play tri ominoes with friends, My hubby and I socialise ( as much as we can ) with friends, we HAVE to go out for coffee!! and my Hubby is Presidente of the apartment block we live in which necessitates phone calls, typing e mails visits to the administrator and the problems of 184 owners!!! AND then there's the internet!! I love to read and swim and sunbath in the summer and I have a hand held Yatze game I play a lot....................oh!! AND I have to cook and do the housework............which as you can see, comes bottom of the list!!!

now thats what im talking about!! thanks guys thats what i needed to hear just everyday living. i wish we were there!
we are unsure of which area to go although all my spare time is checking out all the different websites and reading one of my many living in spain books, i suppose the area would have to be close to a school for our nine year old son but then iv read that the schools are allocated by catchment areas like some are here in the uk so thatputs me back to square one! can anyone suggest nice areas to research? x thank you again ! keep em coming please!!!!!!!!!!

boboal.
Irish Road bowling involves lobing a 28 ounce metal ball along the road. We follow a designated course in pairs, down the road and round the roundabouts, taking alternate throws. The pair with the least amount of throws wins. The ball must stay on the road and if it stops on the pavement then you have to start from where it went off the road. Sometimes the ball ends up in the campo tho. You can bounce the ball against the kerb to turn a corner or, if you're strong enough you can lob it OVER a roundabout.
We play at the bottom of El Raso where there are roads but no houses. In a post ages ago, I described the area as Milton Keynes with flowers............and guess who posted and said........'I live in that place you called Milton Keynes with flowers'??????? YES.........IT WAS MORE !!!!!
It's good fun, gets some excersise and doesn't hurt anyone.....unless the ball hits you !!!!

Bob, Karen's only happy with a ball in her hand.
You want to see the state of the roads down by the La Mata salt lake. If she & her OH come to us for a drink before they bowl I make sure it's coffee or tea. I think if there was alcohol involved we, two roads away, would need to worry about those balls.

Note to self: DO NOT drive down El Raso next time you visit.
Then again, I could always set up at a table in a bar and watch you all chucking great lumps of metal down the road. I don't know, the things we do to amuse ourselves.

Not Thursday & Sunday mornings anyway. Or, if you come those days & we're around, join Karen, her OH & me & my OH for coffee.
