Interesting links - and nice to know I'm not the only one to have noticed AVG 8 is S L O W !
Slightly different subject - I've just started using Firefox, as the general consensus seems to be that IE is crap. Can't say I've noticed very much difference so far. Except, can anyone please tell me why I can't copy and paste a link into my messages here with FF? I get this: Your browser security settings don't permit the editor to automatically execute pasting operations. Please use the keyboard for that (Ctrl+V). I had to use Ctrl+V just to paste that! But any links I paste will not show up as blue links at all. WHY? There's nothing in the security settings relating to this.

Think it was Foxbat who said we should disable the link scanner on our AVG8 as I couldn't send links & since we have, I can send links without AVG saying it's spam or virus !

Roberto Hi,
Its a FF thing and there is nothing you can do about it.
Control+C, Control+V and Control+X limitations only apply to the body text. You will find that this is not just the case on EOS but on many other Forums.
I think its something to do with Microsoft wanting to keeping its headlock on its users...
As for pasting links in to the body of the message; copy the url you want to link to, then highlight the word or words you want to use as the link, then click on the link symbol, a new window opens, paste the url into the box where it says 'insert url' and click OK you will get the blue link you are looking for. You can use copy and paste for this purpose.
Incidentally you can use more than one link in the same message.
Hope this helps...

Don't think this is anything to do with the link scanner.
When using IE, if I type a link to a website in a post on EOS, it automatically shows as a link (i.e. blue and underlined, and can be clicked on to redirect to that site, like this: www.eyeonspain.com ). Using Firefox, this does not work. Also, FF will not allow me to cut, copy or paste anything on EOS except by using the keyboard or edit menu, although this doesn't seem to be a problem on other sites. Anyone?

Hi Roberto,
what Foxbat said about posting to this forum (and some others) in firefox (rather than IE) is correct.
I gave a fuller answer to your question on the thread: Eye on Spain Looks Rubbish, if you want to check it out.

Thanks to Foxbat and Summer70 (oh, and of course you, More!) I think some of these messages crossed in the post, so to speak.
I'm a bit of an old fart when it comes to trying something new (especially when the old system wasn't broken), so I find it frustrating that although many people claim FF is superior to IE, whilst to all intents and purposes I see very little difference between them, some of the easiest functions in IE simply don't work in FF. So why change? Like switching from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail; what was the point? OE worked fine, Live Mail clearly has a few glitches that need sorting out. AVG7 was fine, AVG8 is a bit of a nightmare. I suppose like everything else though, I can get used to it if I want to. It's no big deal to use the edit menu for copying & pasting - it's just that I'm so used to using the right click. Using the link button on this forum clearly has advantages, as you point out (to avoid long and ugly url's), but I'm just so used to copying & pasting a url with my mouse. Ho-hum, progress etc......

Roberto,
"If it works don't fix it" is a very true saying.
Hope you enjoyed your time in the sun
