They are two different things:

-Licencia de taxi.

-Tarjeta de transporte.

Taxi drivers need both of them.

Special licenses and requisites are for different kind of driving services such as:

- Servicios especiales o de abono ( you provide different services to regular taxis due to touristic reasons by example)

-Vehículos de alquiler con conductor ( rent-a-car with driver: as a special type of company)

It is just a matter of study a correct legal form for the type of service you are providing. It may be that you will not have to compete within the taxi-market.

Taxi business is'nt an easy business.. You will surely spend a lot of money,  first you'll buy the things needed, an area for your taxi's, you'll need employees the drivers, and the registration for the taxi and the liscense of the drivers. Before planning a business you should think for the expenxes first if you can afford it or not.

 Word!

As cez6 says....think it through.Chances of getting a legal licence are very slim. Sometimes you can find and pay for a traspasso for one....but it isn't cheap. Being self employed means having to find over 200E each month for your Social Security. Plus all your taxes, running costs etc. But the main problem is this: to advertise you'll need to be totally legal. And right now, with things being very tight for many, most of your competition will be much cheaper than you  because they are non-legal. If a customer (also feeling the pinch), can see no benifit by going legally, then where is the benifit for him, other than that important price difference.

Sorry to be negative on this subject but the Tarjeta de Transporte mentioned earlier is almost impossible to obtain at least in the Malaga area. This information comes directly from the Malaga office which supplies them. If you run ten cars or more then you can obtain one. Car hire companies. To buy one of these would be to expensive to consider. Taxi licences are also so coveted so also not easy to come by, then most people want to do the airport runs. No chance. Illegal taxis are out of the question. People who are doing this saying that they are taking friends are being caught out. The taxi drivers at the airport are on the look out for illegal carriers. Remember you are not insured for this and the risk you run is to high.

i have known a few people that were doing ok in uk, as in pretty smart and they thought they could make a good chunk of money from property management.

So far i have now known any that really made more than 1000 euros a month.

but i am sure someone could be disruptive and do very well
