Hi Guys, we are busy at this moment in time compiling tourist information for our clients situated on an inland project situated just north of Murcia, we are trying to encourage them to discover the real Spain and visit some of the beautiful towns and villages situated about one and a half hours inland from Murcia city. Just wondering whether any of you on the general forums would be interested in us posting our findings on here. We are not selling anything, this is just purely information that we gather along the way that maybe of interest to the adventurous ones out there. Over the past couple of months we have found some beautiful places to visit, spectacular mountain scenery, lovely lakes rivers and waterfalls, great for spending a couple of days away from the coast. Let us know if you think this would be of interest to the forum.

Great, we are planning to cover different areas within Castilla la Mancha over the next few months, will start with our first posting next week all being well. Should we stick to this posting or start another one dedicated to travel do you think ?

I'd say stick to this one or you could start a new thread titled places of interest in Murcia area if there are other surrounding areas you will be including. Up to you.

Hi Ricman, sounds great. We've been plagued with endless doom & gloom threads lately, it'll be wonderful to have something more lighthearted. (Not that I don't feel for anyone who's been caught up in the San Jose problems & illegal builds etc).
As your header is CASTILLA LA MANCHA (it's a link to the tourist site BTW) you can stay in here, if you venture further away best to start a new thread for each area.

Hi All, thanks for your input, firstly we need just to make the location of the area we are covering clearer for you. We expect most of you are familiar with the location of Ikea
Murcia which is just off the A7 before you actually arrive in Murcia if coming from the Alicante direction, or coming from the San Javier direction it would be after passing by the city of Murcia. The exit for the A30 Albacete motorway is situated close by and it is from here we will be heading inland. From your postings I guess that you are all situated in the Costa Blanca South area. All of the locations that we intend to pre-view will be around 2 hrs from CBS or Costa Calida, but are more than worth while the effort especially if you have not ventured too far from the coast before. Castilla la Mancha is a huge area, but in general all of the places we will be visiting will be no further north than Albacete. We will also be checking out rural casa's, country cottages, where you are able to get a couple days accomodation and not break the bank !! We hope that our postings will inspire some of you to go on a little adventure and get to experience some of the beautiful countryside and villages that inland Spain has to offer. Look out for Castilla la Mancha posting where we will speak about our first location next week.

Hi, Ricman, geography never was my strong point. We're going to be living in the Orihuela area; is that the area you're talking about? Donna

Sorry Morerosado, didnt think !!! Donna are you going to be in Orihuela Costa or Orihuela City ? We are talking about the A7 and A30 motorways, I would expect that you would get on the A7 motorway if you use Alicante Airport before you leave it at the split for the AP7 coastal motorway. Anyway we will give clear directions to all of the destinations, however if not clear enough you can always drop us a pm telling us where you are coming from so we can give you more informative directions if need be.

Great guys, thanks for your input we will put it to good use. We must encourage those on the coast to come and see what they are missing inland !!! just as long as they leave their fish and chips and pubs behind and remember to go home at the end of the day. lol ( only joking ) There is so much to see and do and it doesnt have to cost too much either, get back to mother nature and enjoy what she has given us for free. The Spanish have got the right idea, the lowest paid in Europe but with some of the highest quality of life style, proves you dont have to be loaded to enjoy life !!

Hi Ricman
We are off in 3 weeks so look forward to the info.
How long do you think it would take (roughly) to get to the areas you're talking about from San Javier?

Dennis, we enjoyed the hour long drive from Guardamar over to Las Kalendas with Paul & Pauline in March very much.

So glad you liked it.
We are lucky being only one hour inland, it is easier to explore the delights beyond the hills! We are allways surprised howmany expat communities there are 'out in the sticks' - Pinoso and La Romana to name but two.
Local Bodega's abound, they are very generous with their tastings!! - not for the driver of course!!
An added bonus is that you can try out your Spanish as there are very few English speakers to be found.

We took our time, enjoyed the ride & stuck to speed limits. (Oh, & got lost going home !! . Don't know where Paul's head was then, thought he knew the way. )
Just seen this thread Spanish countryside experience which was posted May but no response. 141 hits though.
Maybe Diandra Jackson is reading this thread.

Hi everyone, just to let you know that we hav'nt forgotten about doing our little bit of inland tourist info. We have been exploring areas around where we are based and have found some lovely areas perfect for picnics and fishing, we will firstly come up with places that can be visited in a day from the coast, however for the more adventurous of you there are some great villages to explore. A good base also is the Cenajo hotel, off season you are able to get free rooms using a voucher from the freebie papers. Next week we will cover lakes and rivers, a nice easy drive from the coast. Get your picnic baskets ready !!
