Advice wanted!!!

Along with my partner and her 2 girls, I am making the move to the Costa Blanca in January/February 2009.  This is earlier than planned, but the opportunity arose to move sooner and we are taking it.  We will be renting long-term initially, in the Althea – Benidorm – Villajoyosa area.

Could any expats please help us with some advice?  The girls are 8 and 11 and we would like them to go to a Spanish school – can you recommend one.  They cannot speak the language, but we will all be taking lessons on arrival.  Also, any advice regards Doctors, Dentists etc would be very much appreciated.

I am a qualified and experienced ESOL teacher, with a degree in Business and some accounting qualifications.  Although, we are under no pressure to find work, any help in this direction would also be welcome.

Hope to hear all your advice soon!!!!!

Hi Chubbster,
I think it would be a bit hard for your children to start in a Spanish state school straight away. I would put them into a British School, there are loads on Costa Blanca, and find out through school if Spanish teachers would offer extra help or private tuitions. You and your children should also try and watch as much Spanish tv as you can to become familiar with Spanish language, how it sounds etc. You could try for a state school after your kids feel a bit more confident about the language. As you may know,  your children will be able to pick upon Spanish really fast and you will end up having biligual children!
Do a google search on British Schools on Costa Blanca and you see how many you can find.
Mucha suerte
