Spanish government will adapt measures to increase guarantees on deposits with Banks

Pedro Solbes, ministry of economy, wants to have an agreement in order to increase the minimum guarantee in all EU from 20.000 € to 40.000 €. In Spain now is just guaranted 20.000 €, and this is why so many Bank offices, are opening different bank account to those who have more than 20.000 € to distribute the amounts in order to be covered by the guaratee mentioned.

Spain has approved today bank deposit guarantees up to €100,000.
The European Union has raised the protection to 50,000€ from the 20,000€ it had as the minimum deposits guarantee. EU members are free to raise said amount as has been the case of Spain today.
