You can relax, Nati, those things are still cheap on the Costas. 8 slices of Serrano ham was 60 cents from the Mercadona last week. Even cheaper on the markets but they like you to buy at least a quarter kilo at a time. £1.99 in Tesco for 5 or 6 slices so a bit of a difference. Local cheese, which we love, appears to be a bit expensive at but Cheddar is freely available at about the same prices as UK. Brie (I know, imported from France) was dirt cheap. Queso de Tierno ( the unsmoked version tastes a bit like creamy Caerphilly) was 13 euros a kilo.
Still love all the local food and it was brilliant last week on the balcony, loaf of crusty Pan Rustica, Queso de Tierno, Jamon Serrano and fresh tomatoes from the market. Freshly squeezed orange juice or, depending on the time, a glass of Rioja Vino Tinto. Bliss, especially with the sun cheering us all up. A two course meal at the local Chinese (not very Spanish, I know) with a half botlle of house wine and a pint of beer was €12.55 in the evening. Tapas (a dish of that wonderul pork, tomato and onion stew, crusty bread, small bits of tortilla) and two glasses of wine was €3.50 each at a bar close to the front in Guardamar. I wonder why the British shelves and freezers in the supermarkets are getting bigger every time I visit when all that lovely stuff is available? Oh, and also found the meat counter at Lidl was very cheap and excellent quality. A couple of steaks were delicious and so much tastier and more tender than those pre-packed ones in the other supermarkets.
Reminds me, must look on-line for cheap flights in the New Year.

Bobaol,
I will go to the market then. I don't mind buying big amounts as you can have them in bagget sandwiches, ummhh. I will end up buying a whole serrano jam leg as that is something I could not take from Spain to the UK as it is hard to keep, it goes too dry. However, the local butcher's at my home town sells lovely stuff. I love it. Don't worry I will check the local market first but from time to time I like my mam stuffing my suitcase with all sorts of Spanish delicatessen.

Try to dance Sevillanas!!! I used to dance this type of flamenco dance and I knew how to do it but I think I have forgotten it all since I came to England OMG. I really need to go back to it. I may join some sevillanas lessons. Do you know anywhere in Manilva to have sevillanas lessons? Actually, I remember being in Manilva fair last August and there was some kind of flamenco show organised by some dance teacher. She may offer some lessons.By the way, talking about Manilva Fair, did anybody see the bloke dressed up as a witch/woman dancing on a platform in front of the ghost train (tren de la bruja) ride? It was class!!!

Hola Ana.

The lady that teaches at Manilva school Pablo Picasso does a class for adults on Friday nights.I can get her details from a girl who lives around the corner that does classes with her. Also, there are loads of dance schools in Estepona that do it. There is a dance school behind the bus station that does everything from flamenco to belly dancing. Oh I almost forgot, there is a new dance school opened in Manilva itself, I think a German lady runs it. It is located on the same road as the medical centre.

JC1,
When Brown brought back Mandleson it reminded me of a scene in Godfather 1 when Vito Corleone told Michael "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies even closer". Mandleson is such a devious bugger (shouldn't have said that with hindsight should I?) that I wouldn't put it past him to mastermind a Labour victory.
Anyone who voices ambitions about becoming a politicion should be immediately banned from standing for election. Spitting Image would have a field day with the Labour front bench, how in gods name do they find them?

they don't find them, they have them custom made in a factory somewhere in darkest Russia. Yes you are right Spitting Image would be overwhelmed by the amount of material, but we have to remember, as with most political jokes, some poor fools were conned into electing them. Regarding Brown, why do you think we Scots exported him to England

Made in Russia !! and I thought this Labour government was to right wing
Still they give us another reason to want to move to Spain, having said that the alternative is just as scary IMO.
But never mind ,give it a few months and I wont give a damn.
