Sorry to contradict you haydngj again but we should move this to sports thread. Oh and i bet you haven't got geography as a specialist subject...OT is in the borough of trafford , salford is a distinct city as is manchester and they are all in the greater manchester connurbation. Manchester council own the city of manchester stadium , city just rent it , hence the council house...you should know that.
anyway we will never agree so lets move on and talk about what we both like and that is Spain....

Hot tub on a roof terrace !!!!!!!
Good idea, bad idea ?
Does anyone know if there are rules that may govern such items and whether there are practicle issues that may not be so obvious to someone whose still dreaming of Sangria on the balcony whilst wondering how cold it is tonight and whether it's going to snow.

Lovely idea, Scrufty, and have often thought about it myself.
However, these things get very, very heavy when filled with water so you'd have to make sure your roof terrace could take the weight. Looking at the cracks appearing in the tiling on my roof terrace, I don't know whether I'd chance it. Plus, the water from my terrace drains off into the neighbours back garden so I'd have to ensure I fitted a proper outflow when I wanted to empty it. I already get embarrassed when it rains and runs off through the neighbours patio area. Wouldn't it be great though, lying in the tub under the stars?? Looking at the snow out my back garden at the moment (albeit very light ) makes me dream of warm evenings and swimming pools...and people wonder why I want to make a permanent move...

Hi Scufty
When we bought our apartment 4 years ago we asked if we could put a small 4 person hot tub on the roof terrace but were told no because of the weight it was not the wieght of 1 tub they were bothered about but if they gave us permission then they could not really stop all the other penthouse owners doing the same and the roof structure maybe would not stand the wieght of 35 hot tubs.

Oh!!!!!
I saw an apartment advertised for sale in La manga with two tubs on the roof terrace. was hoping to have a tub in a few years. Don't burst my bubble now. Would have thought the new builds now would have the reinforcement on the terrace to take one surely?
Have to see!!!! This message was last edited by Candyfloss on 3/19/2007.

Hi Candyfloss,
You speak of a tub on the solarium.....we don't want one, but I do know that one of our neighbours asked the builder if it would take the weight (our building was finished in 2003) and he said no problemo, the roof would take the weight ok.
Hope this helps,
Regards,

That's it then, Fibby, If the builder said it would be OK then that's definitely a no no.
Judging by some of the stories we got from the builders I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

I suppose you may be right Bobaol!
The thought of the roof collapsing and water pouring through the building sprang to mind!!!
Mmmmm, maybe a no no for the neighbours then!
