Last time I drove down the C3319, heading to San Javier near the Polaris World Homestyle showroom, I noticed that the grey box-like speed camera had it's lens covered over.

Has anyone else noticed this and is this now out of action?

Angry Spaniard or official action?

Hi MickyT

I was caught with that one in July 07 in a hire car - followed by a large fine by post on October when back in the UK.  Locals said I was unluck as that camera had just been put up  - and put out of action very soon after that, by an angry Spaniard !  I have no idea if it has been operational since then.  Even so, the traffic does slow down there, so maybe it was!

Can anyone please tell me if speed camera detectors are legal in Spain as I know they are not in some countries in Europe.

It's called revenue enhancement and governments everywhere are doing it. I've noticed it around Madrid, alot more police handing out tickets, and the speed cameras are set to go off at .5k over the limit. I got a ticket for doing 93 in a 90, I know slow down 5k under the limit
