Hello

Can anyone help me with setting up my website to be google friendly and to keep it high in the ranks in both english and spanish?

I have had my web site for 2 years and i now think it is time to get it working properly for me.

Hopefully

Roberto

It really depends on how much money you want to spend!  If you want a really good job a brilliant SEO is worth his weight in gold.

However, it's not rocket science.  If you have some time then you can do it yourself.  Start with Google's own Search Engine Optimisation Guide.

Best of luck with it.

Justin

Hi Roberto,

I've had a quick look at your website.

It's nice.  I like it

A few things I would suggest:

  • 1. You need

tags for your title (Website title

    ).
  • 2.  You need

tags for .your sub pages - and better titles for them.

  • 3. There are no title tags in your images (apart from in the advert one).
  • 4.. All the alt tags in your images are the same and very short.
  • 5.. Your meta tag description is a little short - it can be up to 150 characters.  You could make it better by taking out some of the 'ands' and the 'for'.  You use the word 'stylish' twice.Take these out and you have a bit more space to say something about 'shade and protection from the hot Spanish sun and UV rays' perhaps.
  • 6. Some say meta tag keywords are not that important any more, but it doesn't hurt to put them in, especially if they are relevant and not spammy.  You can have up to 15 keywords (some say 10), but you have only 5. And your main keyword (your sites name) is not there.
  • 7.Your meta tags are the same on each page - they should be different and apply to the page itself.
  • 8. Your description page has a good lot of text for the spiders, but your examples page definitely needs more written content.
  • 9. - Incoming well-anchored text links from other relevant sites. These would help tremendously too.

Hope that helps.

Thank you summer70

That is the perfect answer to my question!

I have spent the last 3 days sourcing relivant links and added 12 yesterday so that should help.

I have no idea about HTML code so i will have to out-source the recomendations you suggest , PM me if you are interested you sound like you know what you are doing.

Thanks again

Roberto

I need help with the same problem! I would like to get my site high up in the rankings of google, yahoo etc. but have absolutely no idea what i'm doing! I paid the guy who made the site but I would like to try to do things on my own now to save some cash! Anyone got any ideas how to improve my site?

There are things still to be added to it,the 'property management' section is going to change,i dont like how the rental or sales sections are set out.(I would like a database of all my properties but my web designer says that will cost at least 1500 euro,is this correct?)

All thoughts (good or bad!) would be gratefully recieved!

Thanks guys

Hi Vicci

The problem is that the majority of web designers are not particularly search engine savvy.  Your website is a good example.  Just some basic effort on the part of your designer would have helped with just some on page optimisation.

A good start is to the read Google's SEO guide, the link is in my previous post.

In terms of a database driven facility for your website, if I were to do it myself today I would probably charge about that.  But you'd want a good job doing for that sort of money so make sure you check out some of his other database work.

Here's the best place for you to start.  As you are based in Estepona maybe you should target "Property management Estepona".  It's not that competitive in Google so a bit of effort could get you on to page 1.  Tell your designer (unless you can do it yourself) to change the title tag for your home page to "Property management in Estepona" and add a descriptive description meta tag too.

Then, optimise the title and description tags for each of the other pages.

Best of luck

Justin

It does work (with a bit of hard work and eventually!!). Using the e-book that was for sale on the site last year, I have managed to get one of my keywords in the top 5 results on Google . Just got to work on the rest of them now .
