Today is Palm Sunday which celebrates Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem for the Jewish festival of Passover. Great crowds of people lined the streets waving palm branches to welcome him. As children we'd go to Sunday school & be given a palm cross to hold.
(Today is also the 14th anniversary of losing my dad so it's especially important to me).
It also is 50 years since I was in Jordan, The Holy Land with my school. I was 10.
It was Easter & we had a whole week there. It brought The Bible to life seeing so much. I walked THE VIA DOLOROSA & stopped for prayers at each of the places where Christ fell, as he carried his cross to Calvary where he was crucified. Physically being there in Jerusalem, & so many other important places in The Bible, left an imprint on my mind that will stay forever.
We were encouraged to make a diary of the trip & we all had books to write it in &, of course, we all had our cameras. I still have my book in the attic & whenever I look at it, I'm transported back to when I was there. It was a magical time & one I'll never forget.
I'd like to wish all members a very happy Easter.
Don't forget Good Friday is Hot Cross bun day.
