Good morning all
to those following my 7 year Spanish nightmare, we finally went to court yesterday, and it all went well. Our lawyer was supurb as was his female translator. Very professional, very friendly and confidence inspiring. I had to answer questions from all sides which was not nice, but as I feel we are so much in the right, I just told it as it is, without fear of being tripped up within reason. I can't say much more at this stage as we now have to wait 3-4 weeks to wait for the judge to make his decision. We enjoyed our stay in Malaga and time spent in Marbella, but found it hard to relax much due to the nature of the trip.
The weather was lovely. About 22c according to temperature signs outside buildings, but felt more like 25c plus in the sun. Found some lovely Tapas bars and restaurants, nice beaches, clear sea (but very cold still) good friendly hotel/Spanish people etc, and reminded us of why we wanted a place in Spain in the first place.
So sad, it's all gone horribly wrong for us, and many like us, but feeling pleased we reached this point at last anyway.

hi Goodstitch
It's sounding good yes?
You seem positive, let's keep fingers crossed for the decision.
7 years must seem like a prison sentence, so a few weeks to go and hopefully you will be free!
Nice to see the sun though, it cheers things up no end.
Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Great news Goodstich and the best of luck with it.
Its a glorious day here today, perfect blue sky and was out in a strappy top from early this morning. Off out for a coffee now in the sun!
Have a great day everyone!

yes thanks. We feel positive with reservations. We have heard too many situations where being in the right doesn't mean getting a decision in your favour, and if you do, you still have to get the money from the guilty party.

I'm so glad to hear this news - you have had such a terrible journey to this point so far!
I know that you have reservations (and who could blame you), but I just wanted to wish you the very best again - it's been such a long battle for you! I'm so glad that you have kept on going - and I hope that the judge decides in your favour.
And then I hope that you are compensated justly and expediently. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
The only way to change what has happened/is happening is by challenging it - and for that you must be admired!

Thinking of you Goodstich & keeping our fingers x'd that it is a turning point. How you've stayed as nice as you have over the years when others have been treated better, I don't know. Good luck from More x

thanks for your continued support, and others followig our ordeal. Apart from the relative collapse of the property industry, the only way things in Spain will change is if challenged I feel. The crooks will continue to prosper if not! As for me staying 'nice' ....not sure everyone would agree with that?, I realise i've come over as pretty anti-Spain at times, especially in the early days when many people didn't believe just how bad things were for many of us. In those days, I was often blamed and told ''I got what I asked for'' I never meant to attack Spain and the the average Spaniard, just those to fail to regulate against crooks and in doing so, cause so much misery. The laws are there, but far too often not implemented. I realise much is to do with Spains political past, and sometimes their perception of people from the UK being rich or greedy, stupid etc.
The next couple of months will show if justice (for us at least) is improving?

Dear All,
fine and dry, paddock pumps silent, shirt sleeves rolled up but vest still on, coastal breezes from a cold sea.
Nevertheless rapid garden growth and busy lawnmowers, alfresco lunches and evening aperitif.
Looking forward to the tee shirt later, certainly no need to brave the horrors of Gatwick yet.
Great stuff Goodstitch, it should be published not forgotten.
Any chance of a blog or feature or if not perhaps a p.m.
Keen to follow your example.
Regards
Norman

as soon as we get a decision from the judge (3-4 weeks i'm told?), i'll explain what our situation is. Our actions involve several companies, so I just want to lay low 'till we know where we are.

sounds good. How about we do you a swop with some common sense and fast justice? I'm now told it could be months not weeks before we get a court decision, and that's with those we are up against likely to go bust any day! ........Just when I thought we were at the final hurdle?.
I truly despair of Spain's justice system.

Hello Susan,
weather report good for the South, currently here in Kent, London 80 miles, clear blue sky and bright sun after a cold start.
Goodstitch
a great deal of nonsense is talked about human rights in this country but the fact is it only applies to certain ethnics and pressure groups, the ordinary citizen is daily abused by professional corruption in every sphere and every official from the parking warden and dustman upwards who seeks to be "professional". They exist on their high "public" salaries and pensions with the express desire not to serve the public and abuse wherever possible.
Public money is there only to be plundered and squandered on almost anything, including porno films. The penalty, say sorry, pay a little back and be forgiven to carry on with more care (not to get caught) in future.
Has this always been so or has it been learnt from the "common market"?
Corruption of all forms is not confined to Spain, nor is the arrogance of the "politicals", but the best of luck with your mission.
Regards
Norman

I hear what you are saying, but believe me, after running my own business for nearly 20 years, and having bought commercial (in UK) and residential property, I can safely say in my experiencethe UK is streets ahead on common sense and speed of justice when it comes to property purchase issues. As for human rights, well try and explain that to the Priors and many others who have been caught up in Spanish corruption and lack of regulation. In the property industry, the guilty in Spain (and their UK agents etc ) have been allowed to get away with daylight robbery for far to long, and the innocent victims shown very little support. As for animal rights in Spain??, I would read morerosado's findings on that one if you have a strong stomach?. Besides that, we are at least also trying to ban cruel sports in the UK.
Yes, of course there are problems in both countries, it was a UK agent operating in Spain who started the lies in the first place in our case, and I agree the UK has plenty of problems of its own, but despite my love for Spain and it's people, and many other aspects, I feel the way it's run is in many ways is rubbish compared to the UK. I realise that's just my opinion, but I speak as I find in Spain or the UK. I have no intention of being biased, just realistic, and have strong feelings for both countries.
Susan
Weather here in Northampton is bright, sunny but fairly cool, could use a bit of that Spanish sunshine with heat!!

Hi Norman
Yep it's nice to smell the barbies and the new mown lawn. Its been a tad windy but hey the sun is still shining. I wonder what May will bring. I went a ride out to a place called Outwoods in Woodhouse Eaves and the carpet of bluebells was absolutely lovely. The smell was truly breathtaking. Just thought I would share that with you.
Take care Regards
Chrissie

yes indeed. My parents-in-law live in loughborough, so we go to the outwoods now and again. It's lovely there. When my children were very young (now 12 and 14) we used to take them there while we were in Loughborough for the weekend. Sadly my mother in law who was a fit and healthy 68 year old only 3 months ago, is now terminally very, very ill, so what with that and the Spanish situation, and the recession thing hitting our small business hard, it's a tough old time for us at the moment.
Yesterday was really nice here in Brixworth. Warm enough for me to persuade my wife and kids to go for a family bike ride. A local village had an 'open gardens' day, to raise some money to repair the local village hall. It was warm and sunny. We had a walk round the village and then we sat and had cream teas, scones etc in a lovely garden with a pond, waterfalls and the smell of cut grass, flowers and early summer. England at its best I think.
We should get a judge's decision by the end of this month on our Spanish situation, but who knows???. We are still positive though, we have to believe justice is possible.
