Selling without the estate agent
The Comments |
Maybe this one is for Maria; How easy is it to sell your home without an estate agent, does any body know as we are thinking of doing it, I would like unbiased answers please. Thanks Kathy. p.s. Maria I forgot to thank you for an answer you gave to a query I had.

Hi Kathy
Reading between all the &&& and amps etc
In the current situation in Spain I would've thought it would be nigh on impossible to sell without an agent. You'd have the expense of advertising it yourself for starters.
You need to know where to advertise to maximise the potential, rather like not posting your enquiry in the Running a Community forum board.

Hi morerosada,
the message was posted on the community forum by mistake, also the extra letters within the post which you so "kindly" pointed out were not my doing it has happened before. Also nothing is impossible.

It is a good idea.
It is one way in which you can make your home 'stand out form the crowd' because you can advertise it specifically to an audience of private buyers at a price which is not bolstered by an agents commission fee.
I will PM you details of a website my neighbours used to sell privately. They will give you worldwide online advertising.
Edit: I cannot PM you until that facility is activated by the forum admin. You can Email me instead if you want details quickly. nizinspain(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk. This message was last edited by TheBabyHireCentre on 13/07/2009.

We were lucky enough to sell through an advert on this website.
The thng that we were told made it stand out was the realistic price, compared to those on with agents.
We were not greedy - we did not work out what we needed to sell for, for ourselves to cover costs - we just pitched the price considerably lower than others similar - at the time by 20% lower than the cheapest. The exchange rate was in our favour , and without fees we were lucky and did not make a loss on a 2 yr old build sold last year.
My husband did have to go to Spain to show our buyer round - the 1st person to reply to our advert ended up buying the house.
We had been on with agents for the previous 2 years without a sniff, so it can be done on your own.
