Picking up a cruise ship in Malaga

We need some help ,we have booked a short cruise sailing from Malaga and back to Malaga,and we will need to pick up a hire car when we dock and drive to our apartment in Vera and continue our holiday. We fly into Malaga the day before the cruise and we have booked a cheap hotel,we will probably have to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel and then to the cruise next morning.

What are your thoughts on this ,any experiences to share and costs and contacts.We have booked a return flight to the UK ,from Malaga. Long drive I know but we got a cheap flight .

Not sure if this is relevant any longer as you may have already departed on your adventure but my guess would be the most practical way to do it would be to get a taxi back to the airport when you dock (or take the train, but you will need a taxi to the train station). Hire the car from the airport (loads of rental companies there) and then continue to Vera and then take the car back to the airport for the flight back to the UK. To my knowledge there arent any rental companies close to the docks in Malaga but that doesnt mean to say there arent. The company that seems to have most outlets (without the likes of Avis, Hertz etc) is Crown - they have a depot at the airport. Or contact a car hire broker such as Arrow Car Hire.
