My gripe with all lawyers is  : -

Whether  they  are black,white or pink with purple dots , be they English , Scottish , Irish or Welsh .Be they any other nationality  of European lawyer from East or West or  indeed an American or any other lawyer my conclusion is always the same  

,,,,,,,,,,, communication communication communication ,

For all  you lawyers out there  ??  this may be just one case  amongst many others but for us it is our lives,  our futures , our dreams , our hopes and our prayers

Please don't make us beg for the slightest modicum of information . This begging of lawyers for information is more destructive to the lawyer client relationship than anything else from court results to fees.

 More people are choosing a law firm  on the reliability of the lawyer to communicate on a regular basis with good news or bad .

The thing that angers clients more than anything is being out of the loop ie " not knowing what is going on " it is completely   INFURIATING and extremely  STRESSFUL

I often  find the fees hard to take but  they would be much more acceptable to me if I was kept informed regularly ,without having to ask  (beg ) for the slightest tit bit of information .I know that deep down all lawyers from whatever nation are damned good people fighting for justice day after day  ( I am fully aware as Maria has pointed out today that even when they put up a very good fight  they still have to face some out of kilter judgements from some court judges ) This is to be expected and as long as lawyers are prepared to explain the outcome and consequences swiftly with the client  it is possible to make informed decisions as to the next steps .

but please above all else  for G## sake let your clients know what is happening regularly . Don't make us feel we are not only paying but pestering you  . Is it too much to ask                       COMMUNICATE  ???????????  MM

Maria I am so glad that you report bad news as well as good , but there are still a lot who are trying to mislead ! and give false hope !!!!!  


 

Edited many times for drunken errors,  I was at a party tonight   and drank  too much wine  " en vino veritas "  if you know what I mean

Thanks for your post. Fully agree with you, welawyers need to pay attention and put new, imaginative efforts to enhance our communication with the client!

Please keep the building criticism up!

I totally agree. It's very stressful & frustrating if the lawyer doen't reply & constantly keeps the client waiting just to get an answer.

Lawyers invest in websites, they advertise too but as you say they are absolutely useless when it comes to communication or accountability. I wonder how they would feel if a doctor examined them, or one of their family, and by their silence suggested the prognosis was none of their business.

As a journalist specialising in legal matters I do get enquiries from the public and a couple of months ago I advertised for interest from Costa del Sol based solicitors. I had one enquiry, which came to nothing.

And then they complain they aren't getting the business in? They think they can just open an office, we all beat a path to their door, lay our business and our bucks on their desk, and forget to ask the question: 'How long is a piece of string?'

Fully agree. Communication systems are essential. Specially of you have long distance, online clients.

Things are improving.. I see lots of intiatives for better management and clients care among lawyers lately. Believe me!

 All  lawyers ! Please don't communicate for communications sake , it is just as infuriating to receive useless obvious  information as it is to receive no information at all !!!!!   Yours in complete despair and  disbelief  MM
