Speeding Fine
The Comments |
Hi there
I live here in Spain and recently went to Ibiza where I hired a car. I assume I have been caught speeding on a speed camera as my UK address has recieved a letter from Traffico in Leon, my mother went to the post office in the UK to collect it but as it wasnt me they wouldnt give it to her so they now are sending it back to sender as 10 days have passed.
Should i ignore this as i havent been able to collect it? (or sign for it as they will soon find out) or should i waste hours chasing it up here in malaga to stop the risk of higher fines or problems if i get stopped by the guardia or at the airport??
i have no idea of the amount or if it even was in Ibiza (its just an assumption as they would have had my driving licence details)
thanks

one more thing:
The car hire company have my credit card details from when it was booked and i am worried they will take the fine from that plus extra administration fees which i have read about...could this be done even though i havent accepted it??

patti 123. In answer to your question. No they cannot deduct the fine from your credit card.

Most people I know would probably tell you to forget about it and they won't chase it. But I'm always very conscious of these things so I'd pay up.
