THE POPULAR store Poundland (Dealz) will soon be opening the doors to their latest shop in Finestrat.

The La Marina shopping centre in Finestrat near Benidorm will house the company’s 11th store in Spain and is due to open on 9th June 2016.

Alvaro Villamizar, Executive Director for Dealz in Spain, said, “we are not a supermarket, we are a shop that wants to be the benchmark, offering great brands at a fixed price of 1.50 euros. Our main focus is non - food products, something that sets us apart from conventional supermarkets. We have 17 categories and 3,000 products (DIY, stationery, drugstore and basic food basket) but we have no fresh produce such as fruit, meat or fish.”

Dealz belongs to the British company Poundland, the discount retail store that since 1990 has opened more than 800 stores in the UK and Ireland with more than 500 million customers visiting its stores each week.

The new store will be situated on the ground floor near the Bellaminis clothing shop, in what was previously an electrical appliance supplier.

Easyjet workers in Malaga have announced they are to strike ‘indefinitely’ from May 31.

The mega-strike, to start in the very early morning of May 31, will be a 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week strike.

Easyjet, as one of the most profitable budget airlines in Europe, altered working plans for its Spanish workers as part of ‘viability plans’ that some employees claim make it easier to lay them off and increase profits.

Despite a €1 billion profit margin for EasyJet in 2015, the plans are squeezing Easyjet Handling Spain, a subsidiary,  into taking strike action.
