This is the first thing I have heard from the customer service desk so people must be struggling to purchase or are dragging their feet or indeed getting bad valuations.

Anyone know the price of these carparking spaces originally?  €10,000 or?

Hi, they were 21700 Euros apparently.

I know someone who also received that email and had already purchased one!

These parking spaces are usually priced by their size, so would all vary. Be very careful which ones you buy because some of them wouldn't even allow a "smartcar" in. You will also incur extra monthly community charges on this as well.

I have emailed MRI and they have said even though I have completed I can be offered a parking space but would have to pay the V.A.T. on the value of the space. The deeds would be made up seperate from the apartment and that I thought might not be a bad thing
Cheers

I agree with the comment by toskh (casa-care). The community fee is something to bear in mind and the payment increases depending on the size of your parking space. However, from personal experience a large parking space in a closed garage can be very useful.

We were able to buy an extendable, lockable plastic shed that we were able to put in our parking space and still have room to park the car. The shed came in two parts. A basic 3x6 foot shed but you could buy a 3 foot extension kit that turns it into a 6x 6 shed. This is big enough to wheel two bikes into plus it is a great place to store a lot of other stuff that would tend to accumulate in an apartment (deck chairs, cool boxes etc. etc.).

If you do have a big enough parking space buying such a shed is worth considering.  We got ours from Leroy Merlin in Grand Plaza in Roquetas. If you have a big car or a small van you may be able to fit the flatpack shed in it. However, if you don´t Leroy Merlin do deliver (at a price of course).

thanks for the reply.
We thought for the cost of the vat 3500 to 4000 euros it was probably worth having.
I have found that each time we go out in a car  parking later on is quite hard to find especially in the summer.
The fact it is on a seperate deed to the apartment could be of good value in later years if the port continues to expand in population. I hope

Hey al24....

Thats a great tip about the shed but do you mind me asking what size parking space you got which can accommodate the shed and the car.....I ask this because we too have completed and have been told that we can get the parking space but we will have to pay the 16% IVA on same and I'm just wondering what size is a good size.
Thanks
M

Hi,

Just to clarify things, as mentioned in one of my early posts on this site, my wife and I have two apartments in Almerimar and live in Almerimar full time but we do not have a place in Porto Fino. I joined this forum to try to help people who are new to Almerimar find out more about the place and to promote our site about Almerimar (almerimar24).

Our garage space is 6.40m x 2.70m and the shed is 1.5m wide by 2m long (approx, bought as two separate 1.5 x 1m flatpack modules). We have placed the shed sideways on our garage space so there is about 70cm of our space to open the doors. The doors just overlap onto the neighbouring space when fully open.

So we lost 1.50m off the length of our space giving us 4.90m to park the car. We have a medium sized car and that fits comfortably in the 4.9m that is left.

The shed wasn´t cheap. I think it was around 250 euros for the base unit and just over 200 euros for the extension kit but the space it has freed up in our apartment means that it was a worthwhile purchase. I also seem to remember that this particular shed sold out quite quickly so we had to make a few visits to Leroy Merlin before we got the extension kit.
