The Comments |
To all Roda Golf Rights holders
Since visiting Roda for 8 weeks in May and June I had a number of conversations with other owners regarding the benefits offered to Rights Holders and have put together some comments which if followed up by a reasonable number of us MAY result in enhanced benefits to all holders.
Please PM your email address and I will forward a copy of my thoughts which could be put to Roda on our behalf.

Hello Chris
We have Golf rights but I know some owners with the golfing rights who are not on the forum but who read it and it might be helpful to all the owners if you would let us know what sort of things you are thinking about as it might also encourage more support as well.
I am sure that we would get good feedback from potential golfing rights owners as well.
Thanks
Lorraine

Erinzak and Lorraine
The last thing I wish to be accused of is deterring others from purchasing Golf Rights and I have already had stick by posting info on here that I was not apparently entitled to.
Suffice to say that I am not alone in believing that the benefits available are currently not as attractive as they might be and it is our belief that enhanced benefits can be obtained if there is solidarity in requesting them.
I am happy to discuss further by email or personally but not at this stage openly on the forum.

I have to agree.
I've just got back from RODA and a 4 ball on Sunday morning with 2 buggies cost €158 in total. That is an absolute bargain.
If you were to purchase golf rights, with deals like these you are gonig to have to play twice as much to get your moneys worth.

Hi,
Must also agree. I was reading the latest edition of the Golf mag distributed here & an article in there suggested that golf prices in Southern Costa Blanca / Murcia will have to fall in future due to all the competition & drop in player numbers.

Hi All,
The "golf rights" might not appear to be good value for money right now, however it is a longer term proposition.
Remember they are trying to promote the resort and the golf course at present, that is why they are making it as attractive as possible, simply to get people to come and play the course and experience the facilities, the golf course incidentally is already generally accepted as one of the best in the region.
When the hotel and commercial area get's under construction (if other threads are to be believed, this will be in September) and particularly once completed, the golf course will become very busy.
Please also remember, you can get great deals for golf now because this is the low season for golf, try to book a game in September, October or November, I suspect it will be a different story.
In my opinion (humble as it may be) the only reason not to buy the golf rights is affordability as in the longer term, a really good investment and a way to guarantee preferential tee times.
The De Vere hotel will bring lot's of golfers who will have preferential tee times over everybody except "golf rights" holders.
The "golf rights" like your properties are a long term investment with long term benefits.

I am new to the forum and have golf rights. I bought them as an investment and am only sorry that I can only buy one as I am on the same page as Marvin and agree that long term they will be very valuable. There will be very few tee times once the hotel is up and running. De Vere have a very strong marketing team and Roda Golf course will be in big demand. The facilities here are second to none in the area and it is just getting better every time I am down in Spain. I am on Phase 2 and have been coming here for four or five years and in Roda at the moment.
I met a Spanish golfer at the putting green a few days ago and he told met that there is a meeting of golf rights holders at Roblemar on Saturday at 11.00 am to discuss the golfing rights. It might be interesting to go along and see what is happening. I will definitely be going so maybe see some of you there.

I am certainly not disputing the fact that they may well be a good long term investment, if we all last that long, I am simply echoing one or two views that given the current climate and concern over competition and deals offered to outsiders, then Rights Holders do not get a great deal.
I have no idea about any meeting on Saturday, it is possible that some who live there are getting together to share the views that they expressed to me when I was over.
I would appreciate any feedback if anyone is able to make the meeting.

Sorry to post again but as it happens there was a meeting of Spanish and a few ex pat Roda Golf rights holders, 17 in total this morning to discuss their grievances over the current benefits. Some of the points I put in my email were noted and agreed with but I can confirm this meeting was called by members locally, unaware of our own concerns.
I have emailed those that responded initially to my email asking for their support and contact details.
At the meeting it was agreed that in the long term a Rights Holders Association should be formed but in the meantime 3 local residents would approach Roda to discuss the concerns of those that met and hopefully those of us on here who are prepared to back their stance.
I would urge any rights holders who have not had contact with myself or those in Spain to lend their support as a good number of members will carry more weight and it is in all our interests to improve the benefits available.

We will complete our villa purchase on Phase 3b later this year and have purchased golf rights. I agree that after our initial enthusiasm the benefits do not seem to justify the costs and so I am happy to support this initiative.

I don't think there will be a locker for Golf Rights owners but last time I was at Roda earlier this year I was informed they plan to have a 'lock up' where we can store our golf clubs in or near the club house building. I have not had an update since.

What Next???
Go out the back of Roda and see all the partially complete buildings on an abandoned site, then go to the Lorca forum and see what happens when people pay deposits and the development does not go ahead, then go read about all the investors in Spain who are loosing their investments because of planning issues.
Then
Go take a deep breath and thank your lucky stars that you invested your hard earned money with Calidona.
I do everytime I think of some of the ropey projects I viewed before choosing RODA.
Cheers and be happy
Barry

Just back from Roda We have definatly purchased in the right place alot of the delays are because calidona dont take short cuts and dont and wont build with no planning permission like others. I purchased the golf rights time will tell if this was a good decission or not at the moment it doesnt seem like great value but they have delivered what they said they would I was never promised a locker but golf storage and I now have 2 sets of golf clubs in there own private storage locker at the club house 40% discount on green fees and preferential booking of tee times.
