We have just had a very enjoyable week at Roda, the kids made new friends down by the pool which I must say was the warmest pool I have swum in.
For all of you going out for your holidays I thought I would give you some recomendations (or not) of where to eat.
We ate out locally in Los Alcazares each night. The winner by far to the places we visited is a restaurant called Bayside. Very friendly, good service and excellent food. They were very good with the kids and when my Son didnt want his spag Bol they replaced it with Pizza with no extra charge. Great fillet steaks. Diva, which is opposite tried and failed mainly due to the fact that they seem to have put to many tables outside without thinking of how they are going to cater for the people occupying them. The service was very slow, the food bland, my wife sent her main meal back as she couldnt find any meat in it, but the house red was nice. Hindustani is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food was disgusting, and as I had got it to take away I couldnt take it back and it ended up in the bin. Overpriced as well. Wok 222 just to the left of the roda road as you are coming out was very good, loads of fresh fish and veg which you put on your plate buffet style, then the chef cooks it for you with a choice of 9 sauces. €8.95 pere person for all you can eat and €5.50 for kids under 8, with under 4's eating for free. Loads of fruit for pudding and ice cream all included. There are alot more that we didnt get to, El patio opposite Mercadonna is meant to be good, and The Bistro cafe by the 525 people we met recommended it, and a new place called Rosalinds above Sol Bank got a good review from others we met.
Hope the above helps all of you.

Very good idea to offer some recommendations especially to those who do not know the place well.
Just to add a few comments, we were over there for the whole of June and would highly recommend El Patio which is often very busy so you may need to book.
The restaurants in the 525 precint are a touch pricier than others as they are aimed at the English but we too have heard bad reports of service at Il Diva.
In town Ramons is very Spanish and good value and has good Tapas bar and Terre del Mar on the promenade does a Menu del Dia for 9.50 euros at lunchtime 3 courses inc. a drink.
The Encarnacion Hotel also on the front is very old and quaint and great place for that special occasion but also has live music at weekends in the summer and is great to stop and have a drink looking out at the Mar Menor.
I am reliably informed that the best Indian is the Jaipur Palace on the Poligno (Industrial estate) near Roldan/Balsicas on the Murcia road, also worth booking, drawback is having to drive.
I agree the local Wok Buffet is great value especially for those with large appetites as you can eat as much as you like.
Any other recommendations would be useful to keep this thread going.

We are very surprised about the bad reports on La Diva. We always go there and it is probably our favourite restaurant. We have always had excellent service and excellent food. We also like to go to El Patio especially on our first night when we arrive quite late and then go there and start to relax.

Hi
If you want a laugh as well as good food try La Grajuela near Dos Mares Shopping Centre. The literal English transaltion of the Spanish menu is a hoot, e.g. "Shrimp to the iron or Roman"! ask for the Spanish menu as you will probably make more sense of that! But the wait staff are pleasant and the food was good and well presented. The bill for 3 was 98 euros and that was three courses and drinks. I agree that the Jaipur is good but you will certainly need to book at least at weekends during the summer.

Hi,
A few questions.
1. Do any of the restaurants cater for vegetarians?
2 . Is there a supermarket within the complex where we can buy everyday items (milk, break, etc..)?
Thanks in advance

Try El Chatto in Los Alcazares, further up from the Ramon. Very authentic Spanish food, great tapas, steaksetc. Nice for a romantic, evening meal. Very popular with the Spanish which is always a good sign. Medium priced I would say.
.
If you want cheap and cheerful, theres a great German restaurant in Torre de Horadada, ´Dick and Doof, its what the Germans call ´Laurel and Hardy´, 7 euros for menu del dia!!! Can´t get better value than that. Gets really busy on a Saturday though
