Hi
Would welcome feedback from Roda residents on current fly situation. When we were out in July it was very bad. We are out next week and wonder what the situation is? What do people do to minimise them? Thanks

Hi Bunty,
The flies are very bad over on phase 3, badish on phase 2 and annoying on phase 1. Nets seem to be the best defence and the odd citronella candle helps. Fly spay is a good short term solution, but the best one I have heard is the fly zapper. Not sure where to buy one but I’m sure there is someone out there that does. The wife uses a body spray called Autan protection PLUS which is ok but need to put it on regularly. Also in our apartment we have anti insect plug ins but not sure how efective they are.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Bunty,
we were over from the 16th July till 1st Aug and there was a problem with the flies not sure if that was caused by the crops being sprayed at times there was an bad smell. We did see a notice at the mail boxes that said that the area would be sprayed for mosquitos in July Aug Sept so hope that helps to sort it out.
Margt

Hi Eveyone,
Im a phase 3 owner who was out between 4th and 17th July at which point the flies were a pain in the neck, particularly in the 2nd week. However, i returned for a week from 24th to 31st July after the area had been sprayed and we were not bothered by fly's in the slightest, in fact hardly even noticed one in the time we were there!
Just thought i'd add some positive spin on the subject!

I purchased one of those fly zappers locally, it cost me 50 euros, I placed it out side on the terrace and in the last 2 months have killed about 500 flies, I was a sceptic but it works.
It works by attracting the flies, trapping them in a clear plastic cube shaped container and you dispose of them at your leisure.
It not only traps the flies, but actually reduces the number of flies in the area, if enough of you own one of these devices, problem solved.
PS, I have nothing to do with this company, I did not invent this machine and I do not benefit in the slightest from this post, or from the sales of this machine, got to add that as EOS team seem very paranoid.
The inventor of this excellent machine is based in Los Alcazares, his telephone number is 0034 968 171542 or www.insectsaway.com and I am sure he will deliver.
It runs on battery or electricity.
It won't get them all, but it will get most of them, hope this helps!!!Los

Hi all, we also own a fly zapper wich i bought off the shopping channel on tv it cost £15 pounds and is brilliant. Not one single mozzy bite since i started using it 6 months ago.It is electric and does not run off batteries, but with electrical points outside it is not a problem. We have a penthouse so not sure if the zapper is killing flies , but i have never seen one! Best investment ever!

Hi All
Just thought I'd update you on my original post. We have been out for a week and flies no longer a problem. Roda spray against mossies twice a month in July, August and September.
We bought a 2 euro plastic flt swat which quickly dealt with any flies and interestingly enough featured in a Daily Mail article which advised that flies can't detect it's approach so pay the price.
As for mossies we found by keeping external door openings to a minimum meant we never heard the dreaded buzz or got bitten

Hi all, I was just looking at one of the Polaris forums and they were complaining about the amount of flies there are at the moment. Just wondered if this was the case at Roda and if anyone had any updated ideas of how to deal with them. Ongoing info of how other remedies are still working like the fly zappers also appreciated. We are buying at Corvera and I imagine the problem could be a lot worse up there, maybe wrong.
Many thanks.
Anita.

Hi Anita - I have been told that the problem of Roda's flies is caused by the fact that the surrounding fields spray against them to protect their crops so they naturally move away to the resort - not sure how true this is but Roda does have a problem with them. However the only really effective way to deal with this is to install flies screens to patio doorways and windows and make sure people remember to shut them. Otherwise you will find yourself living in either a chemically enhanced environment or become obsessed with domestic small game hunting!

Hi Russ, thanks for replying. Just a shame is appears at times there are so many you can't really eat outside. We were thinking of installing fly screens, any recommendations?
Domestic small game hunting hmmmm.....

For good value flyscreens I would recommend John at VIP Services 650893607.
Not much you can do to control them with some many crops nearby however we are now able to sleep at night with windows open and screens closed.
