Irene, Ithink that what Mike is trying to say is that a aircon unit(heat pump) costs only a quarter as much to run as a fan heater,econo heater whatever as its much more efficient.

I think- he will probable correct me later but that's my take on the subject!!!

I don't really think that's a big plus unless you are there for lenthy periods and obviously you may well run them summer and winter which would make them expensive.

That said I don't like to be too hot or cold. I have a very narrow tolerance for temperature! (probable between 65-75degrees F) so Mike tends to indulge me!

Me and my wife had  2 x invector air con units fitted and it makes a massive difference at night. I can not stand sweating throughout the night and I like a good nights sleep. These two beauties do it for me when I'm over in Spain and I wake up very relaxed and reaady for the day.Get the damn things installed and enjoy them.

That's my engineers training showing, to try to be precise, but I guess in simple English, nothing is more than 100% efficient and electric heaters are just about that.  As I said heat pumps use less electricity because they simply shift heat energy from one place to another.

Mmm, I am not sure indulge is the right word!!
