We were holidaying in our property earlier this month and were shocked by the state of the pool - I have placed a picture on the forum. It was going green and was very cloudy with an oily film on the top - most unpleasant. There was mould growing around the sides and insects were living in it. Several people were reporting illnesses in children which they attributed to them using the dirty pool. Obviously Quara were not looking after it properly and once they received several complaints, they sent someone to put in the chemicals which appeared to clean it for a while, although it was never 'crystal clear' in all the time we were there. I would therefore urge us all to immediately raise the matter with Quara if they experience anything similar so that they take their responsibilities re the pool and green area seriously, because if they don't properly maintain it, when we become a community we will have to foot the bill to get it back up to standard.

This is an indication of the developer’s level of quality. It is important that everyone forward theirs complains to the Quara office by phone, mail or visit. Check out their contact side http://www.quara.es/contacto_direccion.asp
When 75% of the properties are completed we will form our own administration.
I have got the information that the responsible people at legal department only understand Spanish as they only communicate with administrators.
If you have not got the minutes the pre-meeting, please send a private message to me including your name and lot number.

At least looking at the Quara Website link they are consistent in their level of "maintenance".
They are still listing Begoña Galisteo as aftersales contact for Villamartin & Las Ramblas but nothing for La Cañada.
there is always the old August excuse but I understood they got rid of her months ago and Miguel is now the contact (although that may have changed as Quara would not bother to let us know).

Yes, Miguel is the contact at Quara - it is his responsibility to look after the pool, but he does not seem interested. We MUST all complain to Quara as it is just not acceptable for us to be treated this way - there are people renting out their properties to paying customers and advertising it with the use of a pool - imagine how disappointed (not to mention angry) they will be when they see the state of it.

We havent seen the state of the pool ourselves but when I read the first message here I emailed our agent to see what they could do. They replied yesterday saying they had contacted the builders and they informed our agent that they are looking after the pool until the community of owners is formed. The builders also said they would forward the information to the corresponding department for them to solve the problem as soon as they can.
I also emailed Quara complaining.
I agree with Roo that everyone must complain. It is not fair to anyone arriving at La Canada to not be able to use the pool but especially if rent is being paid!
We need to lobby all owners of La Canada to make a complaint. I will email a couple of neighbours whose email addresses I have.

Thats great the more on the case the better.....thay say they are looking after the pool but as you can see from the pictures the green slimey creature ridden water does not agree - Jean who is a permanent resident got expert advice who tested the water and confirmed that the chemical content was zero but also stated that in peak season the pool needs cleaning and fresh chemicals adding at least twice a week. Miguel from Quara is the chap responsible for the pool and site maintenance but unfortunately it would seem he is shirking his duties.
In my opinion this pool needs now much more than just chemicals, the water line edge is green where the slime was lapping, are the filters still operational, the water flaps are broken off, a post apparantly has now come loose that seperates the kiddies pool from the adult pool - we need ALL these issues sorting before a community is formed otherwise the cost of these repairs will have to be born by us all and i have been reliably informed that a drain and a refill is at least 1500 euros without anything else to boot.

Hi All,
I have sent the message below to Quara today. As Quara are still responsible for maintenance I assume that they would also be liable if anyone becomes ill due to the state of the pool?
************************************************************
Dear Sir Madam,
I am writing to complain about the condition of the swimming pool at La Canada - phase 2.
Friends currently staying in my Spanish home have told me that the water in the pool is green with algae and unsafe for swimming in. At present it constitutes a danger to health as anyone using the pool is in danger of being infected by the bacteria that is very obviously present in the water.
As Quara are responsible for maintenance I would suggest that it is in your own interest to remedy this as soon as possible.
I would apreciate it if you would advise me when the necessary work will be completed.
Kind Regards.

Hi All
Andy and I have also sent an email to Quara to complain about the pool cleanliness - we agree with Roo that the more of us that complain will put more pressure on Quara to rectify the situation.
Great job everyone.

Has anyone had a reply from Quara? We emailed and complained about the pool on August 11 and have not had an answer! Friends at La Canada went into quara yesturday and complained again about the pool, apparently it will have some chemicals added today.
We go out tomorrow so we shall see.

My family and myself have just returned from La Canada, the pool was in a disgusting state. Jean (lives one site) complained to the builders while we were there this resulted in Quara paying lip service and adding some chemicals: but the pool remained the same. Also we found the tiles around the pool to be extremely dangerous, one lady fell and was lucky she didnot break her leg. The children are also falling when getting out off the pool and walking on these tiles.
I would like to complain to Quara but donot have the correct email for the person responsibly at Quara, I would be greatful if someone out there can forward this to me.

The email address (according to Quara's website) for post sale customer services is: aftersalesvm@grupoquara.com
We haven't had any reply from Quara to our complaints about the state of the pool, the state of the pavements surrounding the urbanisation, the amount of builders rubbish lying around the area, and the fact that all the streetlights on Calle Lo Aguirre are not working (some people think this helps the criminals in the area to make an easy getaway). However, we know that Lourdes is on holiday until 20th August, and have just found out that Miguel is also on holiday - well, everyone says that Spain shuts down in August, but you would think that they would have made arrangements to ensure that the pool maintenance programme (if there is one) carries on regardless.

Email has now been sent to Quara, to the sales dept. and also Lourdes with regards to the state of the pool.
A response is now awaited, although Lourdes is on holiday until 20th August.

VARNING!!!!!
DO NOT PUBLISH ANY EMAIL FROM QUARA AT THE RISC OF LEGAL ACTION! READ THE DISCLAIMER IN THE END OF THE MAIL !
They read Eyeonspain.
I guess I have the e-mail address to most readers of EOS in phase 2. They are given to me in confidence so I can not give them to you.
But you can always send a private message to me .....
