Hi

Has anybody bought a furniture pack from Villapac?  We are not due to come out and complete until November but have been to their showroom in Bolton today to get an idea of price - based on the cheapest furniture it was 11,800 euros (including a tv, decent sofabed and good quality patio furniture)  I have looked on the internet at Murcia furniture and a few others and you seem to get a lot more for your money but is it rubbish quality?

Thanks
Jo

Hi Jo,

I havent bought a furniture pack, just bought individual, I have just added up what I have spent so far and its around 5900, that includes, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, hairdyrer, patio furniture, 2 sun loungers, king size bed with storage, 2 single beds, kangroo bed (2 Beds) one underneath, 2 lockers, sofa with chaise lounge, tv unit, 32" TV, curtain pole and curtains and some lights.  The quality of the furniture was much better buying this way. Hope this helps, this was for a 3 bedroom.

Jo,
Based on our experience, you will get a much better price than that by having a look round the various suppliers individually and finding the products at the quality level you are looking for. You will find some places have better deals on some items where others come up trumps with different things. A furniture pack takes away the hassle of this searching around but it is not always everything you want and also not particularly suited to the layout onf the condado apartments. A bit of surfing on the net can narrow the selection of stores down a bit before you come. There is loads of info' on this forum about where people have gone and the prices they have paid for things. It takes a little bit of time & effort but I think it is worthwhile for the savings. If you can stay a day or two longer you can get round plenty of shops to select the stuff you need.
Don't forget, Spain is also affected by the consumer credit crunch and stores have to make the extra effort to sell the goods. Also think about the traditional sales times just like at home if you are not in a desperate hurry to have everything straight away. Could also give you an excuse to get away for a January short break from gloomy old UK !

Regards,

Hi Jo

My friend and I went to villapac showroom in Milton Keynes last Saturday, and we felt it was expensive.  We were quoted 11,000 euros too but then she said as a "special offer for that day " she could get the price down to 7,500 euros if we did some swapping about.  Our feelings were that they weren't really for our type of apartments so we are going over visiting the shopping centres that are mentioned on this forum and do it ourselves.  It seem most places deliver, instal and setup anyway.

Have you look at polaris world packages?  A few poeple on this forum have been inpressed by theirs.

Hope that helps.

Hi Margaret

Our thoughts are in line with you, that buying individual items gives you greater choice and you can hopefuly get exactly what you want rather than maybe having to compromise if we bought a furniture pack.  Having read what you've bought this seems a pretty good deal, I'm assuming the figure of 5,900 is pounds and not euro's.  If you don't mind could you give me an idea of where you've bought your stuff from.  We're out in mid October to start our shopping process and to narrow down the choice of shops would be great.

Thanks

Simon

Hi Alison & Simon

The price is in Euro's. I bought all my white goods from Carrefour and bits and bobs, patrio furniture from Polaris World, sun lougers, picture and throws from the market on Sundays in Mazarron, sofa from Muebles Gallego in Mazarron, and beds from furniture Direct (which are now closing) but Gallego sells everything including white goods and they are 2 very nice Spainish brothers I would give them a try . I brought over my curtains, sheets and towels. Brico is the hardware store in Camposol for all your other bits and bobs, and Ikea in Murcia is suppose to be cheap.

Thanks Margaret,

We've pretty much decided that Carrefour was going to be the place to get white goods.  As we are staying in Puerto de mazzaron we'll definitely have a look in Gallego.

HI Jo

We have bought from Villapac I agree it is a bit more than we wanted to pay, but thats the price we have to pay when you we wont be able to go to Spain till the end of November, at the end of the day Im pleased with our pack and we wont even have to lift a finger so I suppose you could say thats what we are paying for as well. It will be ready for us to dump the suitcases and head for the bar  sounds like agood plan to me.

Hi All, We have looked at furniture packages when we were over in the summer and found them all to be very expensive for the quality, and the poor exchange rate, we have now decided to buy the furniture in the sales in England and use a removal company to ship it all over, they will put it into the apartment for you as well. We have worked it out that it will save us in the region of £2000, compared to buying it all in Spain. Cheers Andy.

Hi Andy

We are also in the process of buying the furniture for our apartment on Jardin 5. can you let me know who you used to transport
your furniture and what you did about storage until you had all the items you wanted to take together. I thought prices here were much better but was not sure how to go about getting it all to Spain its all so daunting!

Thanks
Sue B

Hi

We are using Je Ne Sais Quoi in Torrevieja, website www.jenesaisquoiinteriordesign.com. The business is run by a couple of English guys.

Been to see them at their showroom a couple of times and the quality of the furniture looks first class and the service received to date has been excellent. They are by no means the cheapest but have proved very flexible both in terms of ordering times and agreeing payment schedules

I understand they are doing a few installations on Condado so will be very familiar with measurements etc
