Smivs,
Are you having a 'blonde moment' !! Are you living there full-time - if not who is going to switch it off when you are not there ?
New enterprise Carol ?? - burglar alarm 'switcher offer'. Round the clock service !!!!
regards,

Hi Will,
What would the point be of having an alarm if you always had to be there to turn it off - are you sure you're not having the 'blonde' moment?
I think, in the UK at least, alarms have to turn themselves off automatically after a certain amount of time (30 minutes?).
George.

Hi Smivs - You can get alarms that I think are supplied by a security firm that contact you or your keyholder if anything goes wrong, such as in a storm or if there is a powercut. We have a friend that has a holiday home with this type of alarm. They are on holiday at the moment but I can ask for you when they get back if you are still interested or if no one else comes up with anything

Hey George,
We all have our 'blonde moments' don't we ? I think smivs might be a bit immune to the sound of sirens (dibble)! but 30 mins to a mere mortal might be a bit irritating. They tend to get a power cut or two in Spain or havn't you noticed. Could be that my alarm at home is that outdated now that they don't do this any more ? All I know is that when we have a power cut, there is a harmony of alarms singing all the way up the street.
I'm sure smivs is well up to speed with what alarms can & can't do.
Regards,

Hi Jackie,
I don't think you were having a blonde moment, this sounds a reasonable idea to me. As someone mentioned, the only prob is the noise polution. I don't fancy being woken up while on holiday by an alarm in the early hours of the morning but then again it happens in my street at the moment and I live with it. Could be a possibility for us further down the line, can't afford to do every thing immediately. Another consideration is, will the insurance companies give discount to protected properties?
More food for thought
Ali

With security in mind - Does anyone know if we are still getting the locked gates at both ends of our respective complexes? It's something we forgot about when we were there but can't say we noticed anything that would stop just any vehicles getting through to apartment car parking areas - We were all supposed to have 2 little gizmo things that opened the gates.

Although this thread is a little old, I failed to note a response to the original question, if anyone of our fellow home owners would be able to recommend a company that could install an alarm system in apartments.
Most greatful indeed for some advice.
Cheers
