Hi Pete,
Can only tell you what i was told by sales on condado last week that they have started construction on the airport and it should be open late 2010 early 2011. Always take the dates with a pinch of salt though.
Chris.

Hi everyone,
If they are opening 24 hours, I hope Easyjet put on more flights. I fly from Bristol and looked at some November flights thinking they would be cheaper and just as frequent. To my surprise, they only seem to fly every few days and make the return flights quite expensive for the time of year.

Brilliant! Thanks for that Ace.
Roll on 2010, and then we won't have that lon drive from the airport anymore!! Loving it that the flight path is not going to be anywhere near the Condado !

Where can we find information on the intended flight path? I note from the article that it won't go near to Covera Golf & CC, but no mention of where it does go, and if that is anywhere near Condado.

Hi Ted
The agent who took me around 18months ago said this but I also read this info about 4 months ago on a murcia news article, please don't ask me which one my memory isn't as it used to be!!
I will try and look it out sometime though, it stated that all flights will be coming downwards and then inland from the east.

Just found a website on the airport. Doesn't show the full flight path, but does show the main location and direction of flights + main areas for noise. If flights are expected to head out towards the med, then they should stay south of Condado if taking off to the west. if they leave to the east they would seem very close to El Valle and La Torres though, but the flight path would surely have to avoid the San Javier area

Just back from a furnishing visit this week and noted the latest comments in the Costa Calida Informer :-
The president of the region of Murcia, Ramon Luis Valcarcel, told members of the press that he couldn't rule out delays in the building of the new international airport due to the current economic climate. President Valcarcel stated "The agreement to build will definately go forward but the timeframe may need to alter. So far stopping the works has not been discussed, however delays cannot be ruled out as many construction companies, including several of those that tendered to work on the new airport are experiencing financial difficulties. The president added that his party would do everything within their power to ensure that the project does not experience any further unnecessary delays.
Regards,

At least San Javier is only 45 odd minutes away. Wonder if PW will consider a shuttle service from there- as they suggested would be available from the new Corvera Airport .

We're not pinning our hopes on this new airport anyway. I've not read anything at all that suggests the airlines are keen to move away from San Javier. Plus San Javier will want to hang on to their existing airline customers I imagine.

There was an article somewhere last year that talked about the Corvera airport taking tenders from all the 'no frills' airlines and having big plans for 24/7 flights with many major airlines showing interest. I remember reading it on another forum. I suppose its just a wait and see process now.
