Every day I suffer my own plight and every day I read about others in the same situation.

I muddle along intermittently putting my comments amongst other threads, looking for a glimmer of hope, but is there any scope in acting as ONE rather than an individual? Thank you to Tez Maine and the work done with the BBC which will hopefully come good - you have put a lot into it and it is not unnoticed (by us at least!) - a fantastic opportunity to work together.  Can we add to this?

Can any solicitors add to this? Christ knows every step we take costs more money (like we have any to throw around at the moment!) but there must be more we can do as one body? I speak as one family who needs help to get out of this situation (not with any legal knowledge), but there must be weight in numbers?

I also appreciate that this forum is to share information and our experiences and offer help which, from my point of view has been invaluable and has kept us going for this long.

I'm thinking one big body, one big force, or legally is this just not an option?  (have to think positive)

I can but ask.  I have little else to suggest at this point

Sarah

Perhaps organise a mass protest outside Humas office and make sure the Spanish media are there!!!
I dont think Huma really give a toss about any of us but they may do if we make their life uncomfortable.

Both Hichy and thug are right no one cares, and why should they if it dosen't affect them,it''s not exactly up there with war and famine. If you were not involved in any way would you give it a second thought, of course you wouldn't and there is the problem.
The Spanish media are inundated on a daily basis with news of some property scandal or another so why should ACC be a special case?
The English media have no influence, showing a TV programme will only make people shake their heads and maybe make them more cautious when buying overseas but it won't help.
I have got the majority of my money back, I only have the deposit and interests (maybe) to be returned so obviously I am not in the position of most of you anymore but I am still very angry that Huma are getting away with this.
I agree with thug in so much as some form of protest is the only way of perhaps making some sort of headway . Personally,I don't think invisible protests are much use, and by that I mean emails, letters to MP's etc, people read them and forget them. Everyone, the media, the British Government, the Spanish Government, the EU are all aware of the problems and all are impotent. To be fair, the Spanish Government are trying to deal with the problems but there is so much corruption going on it will take them years to sort it all out. As for the EU they are also trying but there machine is so bureaucratic and slow, that will also take years.
So that leaves ourselves, the sooner everyone wakes up to this fact and stops hoping for some divine intervention the better, but that also has it'sown set of problems.
Hundreds of people have hundreds of different ideas. My own personal ideas are staging a peaceful demonstration outside Humas offices at Oasis over a time. One day would be useless, it would take some time for them to cave in and that would mean people committing and a huge logistical effort, but the only way to hurt these people is in their pocket. What success would they have in selling anything at that site with angry demonstators nearby.
Any budding Obamas out there ready to take on the challenge?

Thanks Sarah for your confidence in our work with the BBC, I am still chasing it and my last contact with Julia was still very encouraging. I will keep everyone informed as I hear more from her.

My only other idea, working as one body, is for all of us to write to Downing Street with our plight. The government set up these bodies, FOPDAC and AIPP, to protect people like us when buying in Spain, yet they refuse to help us. Surely the government should have to answer to why they are so useless? What is the point of setting up these bodies when we get no protection at all?

What does everyone else think, should we do it as one, or individually?

As each week goes by, I just get more angry and determined to see it through to the bitter end. Huma has stolen OUR money, and I am buggered if I will let them get away with it.

Linda

FOPDAC & AIPP were not set  by the government but by the overseas property industry which is the problem.

Self regulation never works. The good companies (there must be some) will follow the rules &  the bad ones won't.

There is no real penalty for breaking the rules. If found out they are fined & expelled but  most resign before the penalty so they don't even pay the fine.

I agree official regulation is the only way.

Anybody however that hopes the UK gov will help over ACC or similar developments is in a dream world, it won't happen, they will say it is a matter for Spain  which it is!
