We bought all our furniture through Murcia furniture,we found out after we had the fridge/freezer installed  that it did not fit the space.Murcia furniture comments are that they do not sell fridge/freezers that fit the size and would not change the fridge/freezer.I will not do business again with them.Just thought anyone buying from them should not make the same mistake.

Would they not let you swap it for something else you might require?

Thanks for the info Ke/san. Murcia furniture have contacted me on a regular basis to try and sell their furniture package. I've told them that we need to measure up etc when we've completed, but they said they have the measurements for the apartments already and know what will fit !! (obviously not!)  Did Murcia furniture install your stuff etc? If so, how and why did they install your fridge/freezer if it wouldn't fit?  Like Ali says , will they not exchange it for something else? I'd have thought that with all the potential business from pw, they would want to keep customers happy and benefit from recommendations. Thanks again for the info.

We had numerous calls from Murcia Furniture before we completed trying to sell us furniture packages, they were very persistent!!! Anyway they wore us down and we agreed to go in when we visited in October to furnish our apartments. We didn't get around to going in when we said we would and they were on the phone again asking when we were going to go in! I explained that we were probably not going to purchase a 'furniture package' and that we were going to purchase our items separately.  They stressed they because of the credit crunch they too needed to change and they were quite happy to sell items separately, so we went in. However this was not the case and whilst everyone was very pleasant it was the hard sell of 'furniture packages'! We made some excuse about thinking about it and within a couple of days they were back on the phone again. I'm that some people have been very pleased with their purchases from Murcia Furniture, it wasn't for us, although I'm not sure we were thinking that on our 14 trips to Ikea and surrounding shops!!!!!!! The pain is over now and we are very happy that we furnished the way we did.

Not sure if this helps anyone but if you are going to make a visit it's better to be prepared. They did have some lovely furniture, but it all came at a price!

When we were over in the summer we went to Murcia furniture and had a look around, and found a package we liked but it was very expensive so after a while we took out various thingsand asked them to email the price, this came through within a couple of days and was even more expensive because it wasn't a complete package, they also then charge for delivery. I must admit they did then bombard us with phone calls, thank god for caller display!!! We then worked out that the cost of the furniture from them compared to buying everything in the uk and shipping it out and all in all it has worked out quite a lot cheaper shipping it all out, so we wouldn't have to buy anything in spain, god bless the credit crunch. It has also given us time to pick all the furniture we want, and get it all ready. Elite European pick up my furniture tomorrow ready for delivery next week. I will let you all know how things work out. Cheers Andy.

12,000 Euros is a very expensive furniture pack!  Although the furniture looks OK, don't think it looks 12,000 euros worth so you are obviously paying a very high price for convenience.  Judging by the comments from people about problems with some of the furniture pack providers, I would think very carefully about paying over the odds just for convenience, as it doesn't seem to be that convenient at all!

As has been said before, it is a personal choice, but unless people are happy to pay high prices for furniture packs and run the risk of being messed about by the suppliers, surely it is worth shopping around for specific individual items and doing it yourself - either in Spain or shipping furniture from the UK as we did.

If anyone is starting to consider shipping from the UK as a more attractive option now based on the various problems reported on this forum with furniture pack providers, I can definitely recommend Elite European for shipping/removals.

Hi Cath and Kevin,

I think we were the first people on this forum to use Elite European and we are also in Yorkshire (Doncaster).

They are based in Wolverhampton but serve the whole of the UK.  I have the contact number for them at work but all the details are on their website - think it's www.eliteeuropean.co.uk or something like that.   If you speak to Linda or Ralph, they are really helpful and the two guys that do the loading/removals and driving to Spain (Rob and Mitch) are fantastic.

I received a lovely e-mail from Linda at Elite European last week, thanking us for recommending them.  I think they have done another few removals since ours in August and as far as I know everyone else has been really happy with the service as well.

Hi all

When Sandra said the fridge freezer did not fit the space what she meant was it did fit in the space but was not a tall as it should have been to fill the total space and there is a gap above the top of about 18"/2ft.  As you will see from other photographs posted you can actually get a fridge freezer which fits exactly.  Murcia furniture did assure us that they knew the measurements but obviously what they think is a good fit is not the same as ours.

HI all

For the fridge to fit the space its needs to be 1850mm tall, this is a standard size for mosts makes of fridge/freezer,but 5or10mm either way is ok hope this helps.

We also had dealings with Murcia furniture and at one point having thought we had got the pack down to just what we wanted/needed we were close to signing with them. We had visited the showroom and identified items, emailed back and forth and spoke to them on the phone. They were persistant up to this point but as soon as we sent our final choices we have never heard from them again- despite one query email we made. It might be worth noting that we had removed the living room suite (none to our taste) and a tv unit (too big) coffee and side tables ( too much for the lounge) all the kitchen ware items and all linen and towels from the pack. I can only assume at that point it wasnt worth their while as the mark up would drop so much.

We also visited Inside Right in the Uk but their quote was also around 12 euro's and contained far too much furniture for the apartment, but amendments didnt bring it down in any major way. We had quotes from other pack companies including DFS which also sat around the 10,000 euro's which seems to be a pretty average figure( people who havent yet gone down this route might want to note). These figures were always for the internal furniture only.

God I'm in shock here!! We used PW for interior furniture which was a sofa bed, armchair, tv unit, wall unit, another unit (probably dont need but Carol is going to use for storage of linen), coffee table, table & 4 chairs (table extends to seat 8), 4 single beds (which zip together to make double beds), 3 headboards, 2 bedside lockers, 3 table lamps, mirror, wooden shelf, white goods (fridge/freezer, w machine, d washer & microwave), homeware pack (seemed alot but not too OTT) kettle, toaster, coffee maker, juicer, cutlery, glasses, cups & crockery for 12 ppl, cooking utensils, saucepans. This all cost €6.529,58. I thought it was alot at the time but on reflection of some ppls quotes of €12,000 !!! I think we got a great deal.

I can't fault PW in any way. We picked the goods and they delivered. When we arrived to stay we found that the mirror was cracked but not up, either was the shelf. I noticed that the corner of the coffee table had been slightly damaged on transfer. The tv unit wasnt on the wall as it shoulb be and there were no controls for the a/c units which we also got from PW. We called to customer services who told us it would be quicker to call into PW homestyle to collect the controls. We did this and they werent in the apt cos the last payment hadnt cleared yet (understandable so). I mentioned the mirror, shelf & wall unit (not the table!). The next day 2 guys came from homestyle to change the mirror and put up the mirror, shelf & wall unit and change the table!!!

We dealt with Jose who was always prompt in replying by email. When we picked the furniture he was very helpful and even suggested some other places that may have something similar but cheaper (which I thought was very unusual in this day and age!!)

ps what happened to the smileys ??

Just a moan about Murcia Furniture 'Home Planners'.

Like many of you we received many many phone calls from them, visited in July and got the friendly, but hard sell. We stuck to our guns as didn't want a package but did want a few things from them. We bought furniture for 2 of our bedrooms basically. I had obtained a floor plan from Polaris by then and had finally worked out how to calculate the exact measurements of the rooms from their plan which was 'to scale'. So they were assuring me that they new the sizes and that everything I was choosing would fit perfectly, but being my usual untrusting self I was double checking with my floor plan and tape measure.

Just before the signing of the order I noticed that at the bottom of the order form it said that they would not be held responsible if stuff did not fit, which I thought was quite bizarre as they call themselves home planners. So I double checked evrything again and realised that the 2 single beds I had ordered, with the cabinet in the middle of them would actually prevent the bedroom door from opening. So I quickly changed to slightly shorter beds.

They said that it would be no trouble for them to collect a headboard that I had bought from PW and put this up for me at the same time as they were doing the rest of my stuff.

Our completion was slightly delayed and we were in contact with Murcia Furniture about the installation date. I don't think they were being very flexible, they were pressurising us to accept our delivery even though our snagging had not been completed by saying that if we didn't accept the date on offer it may be a long time before another slot would be available.

We reminded them about the headboard and surprise, surprise all of a sudden this was not possible. Simon, who arranges the installations I believe, thought he had put the phone down on one occassion, but in fact we could still hear him talking, and he was saying that we had a cheek asking them to do this. But it was only something that they had actually promised, before of course they had our money.

So be very sure to make sure any furniture you buy from anywhere will fit where you want it to go. Don't rely on their say so. And like a lot of people Murcia Furniture Home Planners and very friendly and polite until they have had your £££££££££. Then it all changes. It is tempting to go with them because their english is good and they seem to have a good range, but jsut be careful.

At least they did deliver the stuff, unlike JNSQ (sympathies to Trish and Arthur, and hope all sorted soon)

Highly reccommend Regalos Electro in Roldan for electrical stuff, white goods, lights and air con. Good price.
