I know there are few who are interested on how the road is getting on so thought I'd post an update on what I saw at the weekend.
The road surface itself was is still the same as it was six weeks ago when we were last in Duquesa, looking like it only needs the top coat to finish it off. Although the road hasn't moved on, all the pavements are now all but finished where as 6 weeks ago there was still a lot to be done. Also there seems to be work going on on the electricity connections which they seem to be finishing off. So all in all it seems work is progressing.
Kevin.

Thanks for that Kevin. How far up does the completed bit of the road go? Is it completed with pavements etc past Phase 2 to the school or just up to the road between phases 1 and 2?
Thanks
Rod

It needs tarmac up to phase two, pavements are in place but no street lighting, but then I don't think there is any street lighting in the completed part of the road (phase two up to Coto Real). Realistically it doesn't look like it will happen before Xmas, but 'Hey Ho' maybe Santa will drop the tarmac! When the road improvements were first announced September 07 they said that it would be an 18 month contract that would take you up to April 09, looking at they way they have performed this seems like a more reachable target date. But, this is only my opinion and they could surprise us all and have it all sorted for New Year!

I couldn't agree more Kevin, and if you put a rocket up their rear end it probably will be ready next week. Don't get me wrong I want the road completed as much as anyone else, it would make life a whole lot easier for those of us that have actually completed in phase 1 to get to the port when we need to. We have been listening to "It will be next month" for a year and we are still waiting, they said 18 months at the beginning and the way it is going that's what it will be.

Sorry, that might have come across as if I was doubting the 18 months, I wasn't and based on our current experiences of trying to buy in Spain I'd say it's probably optomistic
IF the road was in the UK you'd expect it to be completed within a week....
I was good to see that building work was still going on around the other Arenal developments too.

LOL, your right it has taken a year what should have taken a couple of months, here in the UK the local council would not have allowed the road to be out of service for that length of time.
Yes, it is good to see that building work is continuing in this present economic climate. Are you considering purchasing on Arenal or have your purchased elsewhere? Or are you currently just not too sure about purchasing at all??

We are buying at Arenal. Just waiting for the bank to release the apartment. We were at Dequesa at the weekend to sign power of attorney to the lawyer, sort out NIE numbers and open a bank acccount. Oh, and spend hours looking in furniture stores....
Realy looking forward to having an apartment at Arenal. Fingers crossed.
Kevin.

Good for you, hope it all goes well. We've been there a year now and thoughly enjoy owning the apartment, great location and beautiful grounds, which block is the apartment where you are hoping to purchase?

Block 4.
We've been looking to buy around the Duquesa area for two or three years and Arenal has ticked all the boxes. Hoping to complete either later this month or January.

Just a quick note to all for the enthusiasm lately as things still seem to be moving ever so slowly especially with Phase 4. Please don't tell me it's all cancelled - it's not been good lately as I broke my hand, didn't get out to Duquesa in October, euro is so strong etc etc. Can't wait for someone to say the road's complete otherwise I won't be meeting up with anyone until 2010!! It's good to hear it's all worth it from those that are in - keep posting to cheer me up.
And finally, a "happy birthday" to Tracey I believe!!

Thank you David, it was indeed my Birthday yesterday, you have a good memory and if mine serves me correctly it was your Birthday too?? A Happy Belated Birthday from me to you.
I forgot to mention that phase four was still being fully supplied with workload whilst I was there in November. It is, I am sure behind schedule but work continues. I am back there end of Dec so will take photos of phase 4 and give you an update on my return. The 'credit crunch' has not been good for anyone that needs to complete now or in the future, but if you do continue your journey it will be worthwhile in the end. I can't wait to get back there, the weather last month was 22° it felt like a beautiful English summer’s day…but I was in Spain in November.

We are also out at the end of the month for the 4th time since we got the keys in March and wouldn't miss it for the world. Hang on in there if you can. It's worth it.

Hi Everyone
Have just uploaded photos for you.I didn't know how to name them though so you will need to look for the dates! There are 4 pictures of the road from different positions(dated 28th Nov);I even managed to capture one lone builder working!
There are 2 pictures of phase 4(dated 29thNov) They seem to be putting lots of workers in there and I was told it is 80/90% finished, but I think that must mean the building construction, not the interiors.
There are 5 photos of phase 2 from various positions(dated30thNov) We managed to sneek in round through a back gate which had been left open.It all looks very good as you can see.
We had a great time and can't wait til Jan when go back again.Hang on in there.
Sue and Dave
PS I took a picture of your block Freddy which I will send to you.
