BREAK-INS
During November there were unfortunately two break-ins in unoccupied properties on Sierra Golf. The items stolen were TVs and DVDs,
The keyholder who had the unfortunate task of reporting the break-ins to the Police has told SG News that this was not an easy undertaking, due to the language barrier. The Police were not very helpful and it took some five visits to the Police Station before finally, with the help of young Laura as interpreter, they came out to investigate. A big thank you must go to Laura for her assistance in this matter.
Some points to note:
Although anyone can report a break-in to the Police, only the actual house owner can obtain a crime number. In order to obtain this they need to provide a copy of their Deeds and passport. It would also be advisable to take an interpreter with them.
The Police advised that to assist them in the recovery of stolen items and for insurance purposes it is essential that people make a note of the serial numbers of all easily removable items such as TVs, DVDs and computers and keep receipts as proof of purchase.
The Police also advised that there is an extra piece that can be added to the security door grille that covers the lock thereby stopping anyone forcing the lock from between the door and grille.
Hopefully, there will be no further incidents but with the current economic climate and in the run-up to Christmas everyone should be extra vigilant.
